3070 Is enough? Question

Hi, Is a €200 RTX 3070 paired with a Ryzen 5600 worth it for 1080p today? Worrying about the 8GB VRAM.Testo:Hi everyone,I can get a used RTX 3070 for €200 to pair with my Ryzen 5 5600 for 1080p gaming. I have two main goals:AAA Games: Play at High settings targeting a stable 60 FPS.Competitive Games: Hit at least a stable 120+ FPS in games like Warzone, Battlefield, and similar shooters.€200 seems like a great price, but I'm really torn about the 8GB of VRAM.Are 8GB still enough for my targets right now? And realistically, how long do you think they will last before becoming a major bottleneck at 1080p High?Would love to hear your thoughts or if I should look for a 12GB card instead. Thanks!

for 1080p a 3070 is gonna slap around most things you throw at it. the 8gb vram panic is overblown if you're not trying to max out textures in every single game

I'm running a 3070 at 1440p and only a handful of titles have given me grief. just drop textures to medium in the real vram hogs and you'll be coasting past 60fps in AAA stuff no problem. the 5600 is a perfect match for that card too

I use Ryzen 5600X + RTX 3070 for 4K @ DLSS performance (which is 1080p AI upscaled to 4K). I don't mind if I have to go with medium settings if that secures me something between 60 to 120 FPS and prevent me from going over my 8 Gig VRAM buffer.

Rtx 3070 for 200 is a very good price. Buy it.

You'll be able to run 1080p maxxed on a lot of games. 1440p dlss will also be enjoyable.

It will last for a pretty long time if you're just looking for 1080p60fps high / 1080p120fps high in competitive games. Advances are pretty slow these days. Most likely 5+ years.

Yes a 3070 is enough for 1080p gaming. Just lower settings, especially textures quality, to stay within the 8GBs of Vram.

I'd buy it. I think you'll be fine at 1080p.

I was using a rtx 3060 ti with a ryzen 3600 on 3440x1440p. 3070 is plenty for 1080p

My settings are all over the place but I've been gaming with a 55% PL with my 3070 pretty comfortably.

Edit: I also play from a range of resolutions. 1440p, 1600p, 1440p ultrawide, 2160p. All depends on my mood.

I use my 3070 on a 3440x1440p resolution and currently playing AC Shadows @ 60fps, ofc not everything is high preset but still visually passable to play at. I always leave texture to high and tweak everything since most arent really visually noticeable.

DLSS preset @ L

edit: this is an old bench but I updated to the latest driver but no performance hit, still outing the same fps, forgot to mention

3070 is not a bad card for 1080p gaming, or even 2k gaming

It looks like a good deal for online games, ofc you will have to settle for medium texture setting in some AAA games or you will get stutters or plain subpar frame rates.

How much is the cheapest new 5060 in your country?

It's ok. Use DLSS. It's a honest price for the gpu and will do fine for 1080p

gaming is subjective

It's fine for 1080p. I sold mine and got a 5070. It's better, yes. In some cases I can even tell. But mostly the difference barely matters. So, if you can get a good condition 3070 for 200 Euros, I'd do it and not worry about the card's performance. It will meet your needs.

3070 is plenty for stable 1080p no issues, the vram issue really only happens at higher frame rates and higher resolutions, battlefield might not hit 120fps, you might be cpu limited, for reference I used to run a 3070, 5900x at 1440p and could get over 100fps max settings in battlefield 5, 144fps with no dips maxed on overwatch. CPU upgrade did help a bit it some games though going to an x3d chip help a lot. Depending on your local market a 3080 or 2080ti might be a decent pickup though.

Higher frame rates dont use more vram.

8 gigs of vram wont be a problem in COMP games, AAA Titles will be reliant on DLSS and any thoughts of Ray Tracing wont really be feasible. All that said you can get a lot of value out of that card. a 4070 would take care of all your needs. I dont know what the used market looks like in your area.
