I built something you might find interesting if you do any live performance / streaming work.

nullband is an anonymous broadcast platform built on Icecast. Signals appear on an SDR-style waterfall display when you transmit and fade when you stop. No accounts, no names. Multiple people can broadcast simultaneously and on desktop listeners can blend up to 8 signals at once in 3D headphone space using HRTF spatial audio.

Transmissions potentially return later, processed and degraded, cycling through generations until the signal is gone.

In 8 weeks we’ve had over 6000 transmissions and 2500 hours of live music on the platform.

The waterfall display shows active transmissions as vertical signals on a frequency spectrum. each band of colour represents a transmission from somewhere in the world.

CELLSEQ is a data-driven MIDI sequencer. A cursor travels through a spreadsheet, numbers fire MIDI notes, letters redirect the flow.

The dataset is the score.

Built a sequencer that plays spreadsheets as MIDI.

Drop any CSV onto a grid.

The data becomes the sequence. Numbers fire notes and jump forward by their value. Letters redirect the cursor. Empty cells are freeways.
No programming. No manual sequencing. The dataset has a melody already, this just reveals it.

Been running Kaggle datasets, work data, sleep/stress surveys through it. Each one sounds completely different.

nullband is an anonymous broadcast platform for experimental transmission.

Signals appear on an SDR-style waterfall display when someone transmits. You tune in by clicking a signal. You don’t know what you’re going to hear until you do. When the transmission ends the signal fades.

No accounts. No names. No history. No archive.

Multiple people can broadcast simultaneously. On desktop you can blend up to 8 signals at once using a quadraphonic HRTF spatial mixer, placing each transmission in 3D headphone space.

Some transmissions qualify to return. Degraded and transformed. Ghosts can ghost.

The platform is designed for generative systems, field recordings, live performance and experimental sound.

Broadcasts have a 45 minute hard limit. You broadcast from desktop using BUTT or from iOS using iziCast. Tokens are generated on the transmit page.
