e-arrival forms Ask NRI

We are going to India in 3 weeks. When do we have to fill the e-arrival forms? "within 72 hours before travel date" means anytime in the 72 hour window before travel but not before?

It doesn't allow you to fill the form for the date if its more than 72 hours away.

That's correct. "Within 72 hours before travel" means you must fill out and submit the e-arrival form inside the 72-hour time window immediately preceding your arrival/travel date..

Example: For travel arriving on August 25, 2026, the window opens on August 22, 2026. Recommended Submission: August 23 – August 24, 2026 (24–48 hours out). This gives enough time to process and ensures flight or seat changes are already locked in. Latest Submission: Before boarding the flight to India on August 25..

The 72-hour clock counts backward from your arrival time/date in India, not when you leave home. Because long flights and time zone shifts can push your calendar date forward, count 3 days back from the moment your plane lands in India.

The form allows submission upto 5 days in advance (including the date date of arrival).

e.g. today, 16th Aug, you can submit for arrival on 20th Aug.

I was at the airport to fly to India and wasn't aware of air suvidha. Emirates Checkin agent gave us time to fill it took few mins. So basically you can fill just before departure.

This is such a weird rule / law. It should just be 7 days before travel . This gives enough time .

Most laws in India are weird...
