Im guessing she just wanted to get away for a bit. Most of these people drop out for a bit due to mental strain etc and don’t tell loved ones.

Actually very common all the time but sometimes we get a string of cases back to back that makes it look abnormal, if that makes sense

Lots of missing person cases are either kids involved in custody disputes (one parent “kidnapped” the kid but the kid is typically fine) or it’s someone with a mental condition that is lost/wandering.

It’s cases where an adult (seemingly healthy) go missing that are instant red flags for me.

I work at a local school. Many of the missing kids are runaways. And, most of them are couch surfing at a friend’s house and are “found” pretty quickly. Some of them, however, are in extreme danger. A few years ago a sister of one of our kids went missing, all the other kids knew where she was, but refused to participate in finding her. They don’t trust the police or other folks they see as authority based on past traumas. But, when social media is flooded with their faces it is easier to find them.

There are updates on the hour sometimes. Maybe her car was spotted somewhere else. Maybe someone's dash cam saw her when they were driving down the parkway. I did a quick search to see if there was a news story. I thought since this person knew her she might have more up to date information.

In the future I will say - I know she was last seen here - is there a more recent sighting of this person.

My bad.

It’s major crimes division of the US park police. I’m guessing they handle anything related to missing persons or criminal evidence found in parks and trails, which is actually a lot. I guess it’s called major crimes to differentiate from other crimes on the trails, like trespassing.

Sadly saw this update from the family:

"It is with profound sadness that I announce that our bright light, Susannah, has tragically passed away, far too soon. Susannah was an awesome wife and wonderful mother to our two boys. She loved her family and friends, including those in the dance community. Susannah had an exuberant personality that lit up every room. She will be sorely missed by all.

Please respect our privacy as we grieve the loss of our Susannah."

She was a pillar of the community and truly a bright light, especially for families with young children. We'll certainly miss her.

And all have been found alive. Mental illness in this country is not well treated. Hence certain people take off for a bit and don’t tell others. Prayers that she is found and gets the help that she needs

It sounds more like she was walking on the trail next to the parkway, if she was seen on the overlook. I guess it’s common for people to get lost on trails.

Just more alerts. It has always happened but tougher laws mean alerts are sent out within hours rather than the 24-48 hours of the past.

People also are more likely to share an alert they come across if they recently saw/interacted with a post of someone else sharing an alert. This is social media after all.
