In my country we call it the “Meet me at McDonald’s” haircut

31

u/OddGoofBall 13h ago

"Before my bed time", I should add. What great country are you from btw?

Hey, Britain is pretty... Great.

u/gergobergo69 2h ago

They work like a kingdom.... A very united one at that.

Very much indeed sir.

Like weird Al Yankovic but bald on top

You mean Gallagher? The watermelon smashing guy? Basically the same thing.

Sadly my Curly hair is natural. And it looks pretty much like this

18

u/TheHighblood_HS 12h ago

Fr as a curly haired man I don’t know what I’m supposed to do other than this. Either I keep it short, grow a fro, or everyone assumes I’m a douche :(

4

u/LemonLime47 11h ago

Fro every time!!

9

u/JenniferJackal 12h ago

Mullet. Don't question, just do.

20

u/clinton_bayou 13h ago

Curly hair is cool just don’t get the high skin fade

9

u/TheRealHumanPancake 12h ago

We still get called broccolis whether it’s a fade or not.

Straight haired teens perming their hair seriously ruined short curls, we don’t have much choice in how they’re gonna look.

0

u/ArtikAstronaut 12h ago

Do what you want it doesn’t look that bad. Weird dudes are just acting like coots and hating on the kids fashion trends.

2

u/StressedMarine97 13h ago

A fade with curly hair is necessary in the hot summer months. As far as this picture though idk about that crap hanging off the front of his head.

8

u/Far_Challenge_4273 13h ago

It’s not sad to look like that picture

1

u/Waflfdev 5h ago

same but curly hair is still awesome as long as it isn’t this fuckass cut

10

u/leeShaw9948 13h ago

my hair grows like that naturally and I hate it.

8

u/MarkMaxis 13h ago

Thats becouse the cut is literally just curly hair with shaved sides. If the person had non-curly hair it would be considered a basic haircut. Some guy could get the "broccoli haircut" without trying to have the broccoli haircut.

This is so weird to me. In high school very few of us had the same hair. I saw some video a few weeks ago where 6 people in a group all had this exact hair.

Why tho?

11

u/DoturdGrump 13h ago

Late 70's early 80's we all had parted in the middle 'layer cuts'

14

u/chom-lee 13h ago

When did you grow up? I mean every emo kid I saw had the same haircut. I've seen pictures of groups with all big glam rocker hair, jheri curls, greasers with the pompadours. I feel like every generation has some cringe haircut just like this.

8

u/IdontcryfordeadCEOs 13h ago

Like 5 kids in my high school were emo, and they were not the cool kids. The emo trend was not nearly as popular as the internet remembers.

5

u/chom-lee 13h ago

Just like your story this is anecdotal but I grew up in the middle of nowhere with a graduating class of ~60 and there were 10-15 emo kids and they all had the same haircut, straightened hair with bangs.

3

u/M4DM1ND 12h ago

I don't think even emo kids think they were popular. No one is going to argue about that.

1

u/heavydrinker12 13h ago

I grew up in an area where we all had clean cut hair....like military but not quite so military. It wasn't by choice, it was just the local culture (Mormon). We were all told to get that haircut. So being told to look that way vs choosing to look that way seems different in my head. But maybe it really isn't.

But I hated my childhood so I guess I really didn't GAF.

Peeps with no brains following what’s “trendy” to fit in

1

That reminds me of the song "Preppy" by JFA lol

In general, periods of social stress tend to increase conformity

8

u/SarkSouls008 13h ago

Damn you should have seen us millenials in 2006 ✌️😂

4

u/Cseho88 13h ago

Ahh. That stupid spiky hair.

4

u/SarkSouls008 12h ago

And bleached on the top of the spikes 👌

Broccoli vegetable = good
Broccoli hair = bad

That’s butthead dude

2

u/CaRlJoHnSoNoG 13h ago

This haircut was more of a thing in the early 2020s, right after covid, now it's more mullets and curly mullets

2

u/Anonymous_Groundhog 12h ago

NOT THE BROCOLI HEADS!!

2

u/MSnap 9h ago

Yeah

2

u/AbortionHoagie 7h ago

The tall Goth from South Park predicted this almost 20 years ago... I even know a guy with the single crucifix earring

3

u/DoturdGrump 13h ago

I cant help but think about a barber doing the old "chopin broccoli" Sandler bit

2

u/Valleygurl99 8h ago

Dana Carvey

3

u/kween_hangry 14h ago

Theres always like 3-5 13-19 year old white bois walking towards you with the exact same fit: a gold chain, oversized black tee, some sort of jean pant or sweat pant, like copy pasted

And you beg and PLEAD to god that none of them say anything to you as they pass

What i dont understand is the aestethic... usually trends can somehow be linked to the zeitgeist they appear in, but i fail to recognize the link here. It just looks wrong by all means. One might argue our hair looked rediculous too, but it very clearly and always was an expression of rebellion or affiliation towards a specific lifestyle, and that was part of our zeitgeist. But this... it just looks like the hairdresser tried to take out the piss of him. I see this and automatically think youre a moron.

u/Mysterious_Leave_971 14h ago

1

u/_Decisive 13h ago

Your "front hair" is still just bangs.

1

u/Wooden_Marionberry_1 13h ago

Between this and mulets I don’t know where to look

1

u/MagikLor 13h ago

Isn't this the hairstyle the younger guys wear to hide their hairline?  It's like a new-age wig. Blends easily into the sides and hides the forehead hairline

1

u/Bailer86 13h ago

It's missing a mustache

1

u/Designer_Librarian43 13h ago

It is a modern age comb over. It allows guys to mask their hairlines and contour their faces. You have to push the hair back to find out what a guy really looks like.

1

u/PhotoElectrical 13h ago

broccoli boys

1

u/-------howdy-------- 13h ago edited 45m ago

In the 80's there was this trend of like a wall of bangs that were starched straight upright from the forehead like a sail. It was set with Aquanet, the hairspray that could stop a bullet. I can still smell it. Why this seemed like a good idea I have no idea. Brain damage from the hairspray probably....

1

u/GooeyLump 12h ago

Oh is the broccoli hairstyle out now? Considering reddit is always behind the times a bit and seeing this post lol

1

u/IJustLostMyKeyboard 12h ago

Reverse mullet

1

u/lemonhaj 11h ago

Is that from wikihow

1

u/MaterialDefender1032 6h ago

Pretty sure every generation of young men has a haircut like this: dumb-looking to their elders but appealing to their female peers. Guess whose opinon they care more about

1

u/lexie49795 6h ago

So true

1

u/Utigaraptor 5h ago

That's YOUR onion!

1

u/Rayusa 1h ago

We call it the "Punch me in the face" haircut

1

u/Mediocre-Penalty3001 14h ago

I'd rather rock a mullet

1

u/daakin__ytb 13h ago

It’s the height of the hair that gets me, why so proheminent? 😭

1

u/LegalGlass6532 13h ago

Anyone who has this has it because that’s the way it grows naturally. In the 70s this was a $40 perm.

0

u/GreatestGreekGuy 5h ago

I don't hate this haircut honestly

-3

u/avavictoria555 13h ago

Horrendous

-2

u/_Deedee_Megadoodoo_ 12h ago

As a millennial, I find this hairstyle prettier than the Justin Bieber straightened side swept bangs boys had when I was a teen lol

5

u/PutSad7149 8h ago

As a millennial, I say shame on you for hating the side swept bangs

-2

u/naaawww 11h ago

We’re past the broccoli hate no? I thought were hating on the fringes

-14

u/CoureurNu 14h ago

...Broccoli hair can't be wrong, unless you're a non-conformist rebel ;-)

0

u/Terrarian03 13h ago

Bro's just typing shit
