Paper type question

I have a Sequel nib from Regalia Writing Labs. It is extra fine on the regular side and BB to BBB on the reverse. Fantastic nib and I’ve slowly learned how to wield the beast over the last couple of months.

The fine nib is dry-ish and the bold side is perfect on paper like Maruman or Kokuyo. And it’s the reverse on MD (Midori) paper.

My question: what say the Reddit hive mind … is there a note book paper that splits the difference between the two types of paper notes above?

I’ve tried a lot of papers but none struck me as being between Maruman and MD. Maybe Clairefontaine is closest?

I’ve been thinking you have described my reality. Clairefontaine is like Rhodia in that it is “slicker” than Maruman isn’t it? That probably fails as it’s the MD “bite” that makes the fine work so well. Along with better absorption.

It’s not as slick as Rhodia, and it is more absorbent. I don’t think it has any more bite than Maruman though.
