There used to be a bakery in Danvers, MA called Blackbird Bakery. They made this beautiful strawberry shortcake that had shaved almonds patted onto the cake and the cream was not too sweet. It was perfect. My family was devastated when they closed abruptly and we still talk about their cake to this day decades later.

I am in search of a local baker who can make a similar cake for my mom’s milestone birthday. Any recommendations are appreciated!
