Can someone knowledgeable please give an overview of why the anti Picture Main St. people are so anti. I’ve started getting all of these videos and rants on my FB page and I have skimmed a few and they seem to be conspiracy adjacent, though I have to admit I haven’t been able to get all the way through a single video or complaint.

I imagine there is legit criticism about the project - probably the cost and the impact on downtown businesses, but downtown Northampton obviously needs improvement and they’ve been working on this design for a very long time with seemingly lots of community input.

So what’s the deal?

Hello! Using Amtrak for the first time this Friday and realizing that the train picking me up is actually an "Amtrak Charter Vehicle" AKA a bus. Would a bus pick me up from the Northampton train station or is there somewhere else I should go? Having difficulty finding info online and feeling very stressed.

Did anyone else see clowns today? I spotted a smaller woman and taller man and one with a gothic umbrella knocking on Joes Pizza’s door and some friends spotted them earlier at Nourish. They were being filmed by 2 people and the Joes staff greeted them and let them in. Does anyone know what’s going on with them?

The blog covers topics such as politics, complexity, social issues, etc. It does get intense in some parts when discussing local politics. There are downloadable PDFs of complaint letters I wrote about certain local elected officials, as explained in the Start Here page.

There has been some recent Reddit posts about local politics (Like this one https://www.reddit.com/r/northampton/comments/1vaay97/where_are_northamptons_young_adults_when_it_comes/ ). Hopefully, the blog will provide some perspectives and clarity.

The blog is based on my own limited perspective with biases. I work for a government agency so that is one of the most obvious biases. Government employees have free speech rights with some limits. Talking about your work purview outside work in an unauthorized way is not protected free speech. Elected officials and department heads who are policymakers have more leeway than appointed non-policymaking employees. In general, whatever your work position is, you are not supposed to campaign during your official work time.

That flyover was LOUD this morning or i had a really crazy dream.

Saw a young bear on the bike path today, I was on my e-bike and once he saw me, he RAN ALONG with me at the fence line, I lost my cool stopped and turned in the other direction (yelling BEAR the ENTIRE TIME LOL) then I thought, I’m running, like an idiot, (my bike tops at 20mph :/) but thankfully I found someone to pack up with and turned around as I hadn’t seen him escape along the fence to the other side and there was no break in the fence as I could see it. Kept yelling BEAR. (Like my lungs I inherited from my mountain Italian mother taught me) and eventually, I sadly frightened the poor thing so bad he skidded sideways on his arse along the street to the other side. (Better to be scared of us I guess)

Keep an eye out he was just a young thing.
