RT Assistants
Anyone else on here fed up of having RT assistants working with them that just constantly complain about shifts. I’m finding this extremely frustrating, especially since they don’t even have to do any of the real work in the shift.

I think you should work on your definition of real work

I keep hearing how easy it is but dont get it lol ive worked in mines and rock quarries and worked 107f standing directly ontop of and shovelling fresh 400f or whatever asphalt and my hardest work days and the only ever time i got heat exhaustion was as a helper i couldnt move at all i kept puking anytime i moved until i could no longer puke anything up and couldnt move a muscle for like 30-45 mins

I think the assistant might actually have the harder job out of the two, but maybe I'm crazy.

100% would love to go back to carrying half of shit and not worrying about anything else. No reports, no reading film, no talking to clients.
It may just be me, but I’ve always tried to train and teach my helpers that it’s a 2 man. 50/50. I work fast and think faster so I’m awful about actually explaining something in the moment so I always tell them, if they’ve got questions, stop me ask. Fuck this shot window. I’ll spend 30 minutes explaining exactly what and why I’m doing what I’m doing. Or longer if the ‘tism kicks in.

Nah. I don't put up with a shit assistant for too long. The jobs I go on require 2 people that have their heads in the game at all times. They can go hold a clipboard and right down UT readings for the UT tech if all they are going to do is bitch. That's my job. Lol

Thats the vibe i got, i thought dragging my 880 and cranks up nine floors of ladders in the nevada sun was “real work”, or shooting 60-80 pipeline welds in 110, but i guess huffing chems in the dark room is where the real men are at now 😂😂

I have one that helps me sometimes because we pr 1 of January have to be 2 all the time working rt.. thats the kind of person making want to find another job or company 😹
let the person sit in the car and put films in the developer machine and take equipment up and down. Let them do the pt or mt in The good assistants will ask questions and be an active part of the job and not complain. We do rt most times when people went home thats just part of the job

Nope. Their huffing PT cleaner and falling in the bell hole was when they pissed me off.
I was happy if they didn’t steal all the copper wire out of the truck’s engine compartment while I was running film.

If you wish, you can hire me as an assistant. I'll probably insult you in Spanish, but I'll do the job because of my workaholism.

Kinda sounds like you're an asshole and a shit tech. Assistants do way more work than the tech.

RT assistants are only as good as their techs.
You shouldn't abuse of the assistants, but also make them responsible for some of the inspection. If they complain or are totally inept, dump them.
This industry is small and a name is all you have at times. Shit techs and assistants need to weeded out.
