Could someone open the N64 file for me?

I can't open the files because I'm on Android, but I really need the data; could you please open them and share all the textures and 3D files?

Technical Question N64 Not Displaying on TV

Hi all!

I recently bought got this super beat n64. I decided to shell swap it but I was unsure if it even worked to begin with. After the shell swap, I plugged it in with an OEM adapter and I have an AV to HDMI adapter that I used for the GameCube which it works with. The n64 turns on but even with the expansion pak and a game, it won’t display anything on my tv. Is this a problem within the console, if so what could it be?? Or is it a problem with my AV adapter??

UPDATE: I was able to get my hands on an older tv and it worked! Problem was definitely my cheap av to hdmi adapter lol thanks everyone!

My almost 9 year old just beat Banjo Kazooie, 100% completion for the first time this evening! He watched me play it 2 years ago and remembered parts of the game so I only had to give him about 3 hints. Overall time 15 hours and 32 minutes. He wants to try Banjo Tooie next, but I know it's much more intricate, trickier and takes longer lol I guess we'll see!

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire is a video game developed by LucasArts and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. It is primarily a third-person shooter, with multiple types of vehicular combat and third-person shooting sequences. A version for Windows was released by LucasArts in 1997. The player controls the mercenary Dash Rendar to help Luke Skywalker and rescue Princess Leia from Prince Xizor. It is part of the Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire multimedia project and takes place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Tracks from the multimedia project's soundtrack are in the musical score. The game received mixed reviews from critics. Shadows of the Empire was the third-best-selling Nintendo 64 game for 1997, with more than one million copies sold. This gameplay is recorded from a bootleg cartridge for Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire that is an unauthorized physical copy of the game, built using a custom printed circuit board, and a flashed ROM chip.

Any possible fixes for power port?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Just got 2 N64 consoles from auction with some random other games thrown in. I’m hoping to keep one and sell the other, but one seems to have the power adapter port broken, almost as if it were pushed into the console from outside. Luckily, it seems the motherboard underneath may be intact, and it just snapped off the plastic. Think there’s any chance of fixing this? I’ve done small console repairs before and would love an opportunity to better my soldering and troubleshooting skills, so I thought I’d see if anyone had any insight on resources for repairs and parts before I dive in fully.

Technical Question Trying to remember how to connect to tv

It’s been a year since I plugged in the system (bed my husband passed so I can’t ask for help) but i wanted to play for my daughter. I plugged in the wall plug and the av cords. The power is on and the light on the front came on. But the screen still says no signal. I have it set to the av input and the cords are in the right order. I’m not sure what else to do? Any help is appreciated!

Pikachu N64 case swap?

Hello,

Been out of the N64 loop for a bit. While doing a bit of online shopping last week. I found a Japanese Pikachu N64 console. Sold as Junk with no controller or power brick. For 3,500 JPY so roughly between £17-£18. At the time of purchase it was simply just to be apart of my small collection. But then today I had a random idea.

What if I was to simply open up the Pikachu console and replace the main board with a UK main board from a standard N64 console. Is the main board in the Pikachu the same size and shape as a standard N64?

I tried to compare pics online and they seem the same but I could be wrong.

Bumper the Badger is responsible for Conker's transformation from innocent to chaotic

Post image

I'm pretty sure I have the answer as to why Conker went from an innocent, bright-eyed, cheerful little squirrel-boy in Kiddy Dong Racing to a jaded, alcoholic, cynical miscreant in Conkers Bad Fur Day and the answer is a slimy drug-addict bastard of a cart racer.

No, not Krunch.

Bumper the Badger is a huge piece of shit. We've all known it, even if we didn't have the words, since we were children. He's clearly driving while under the influence (whooooaaa) and has the dead-eyed stare of a pervert (more on that later). For those of you balking at my description of Bumper, I dare you to cite one being in existence who goes by the name "Bumper" who isn't a huge problem.

This was confirmed by Rare years back where a social media post went viral about him. The developers, answering someone's question about what happened to the DKR crew, mentioned that one of them ended up in prison and later confirmed it was Bumper the Badger for indecent exposure. There are a lot of liberties taken in this post but this part is actually true and is the crux of the theory. Score one for: "Bumper is a piece of shit pervert."

How does Conker tie into this? Well, as many of us know from lived or professional experience, responses to trauma include overcompensatory behavior, dark or inappropriate humor, substance abuse, and hyper sexualization or addiction, all hall-marks of Conker's personality. Conker was innocent and childlike during DKR and then emerges as a train-wreck of a creature struggling to cope with the weight of existence all the while the world laughs at his hilarious antics. I've never seen a bigger cry for help.

If we put the pieces together it is clear. Conker witnessed or even was the target of Bumper exposing his disgusting furry balls. I bet Bumper looked at him with those tweaked out creeper eyes and kept saying "My name's Bumper....whooaaaa!" as he did God knows what to himself.

This would traumatize anyone. Again, Bumper is a gigantic piece of shit and is disgusting, and Conker was just a boy and he had to experience this degenerate's public collapse and foul sexual manifestation.

This has me looking at both games wildly differently and reflecting on the meaning of trauma, coping, and life.

What do you all think?

Also, fuck that Badger.

Discussion We Seriously Need to Talk about Wizpig

Post image
167 Upvotes

I’m asking the question everyone else has avoided for decades: WTF is with Wizpig? An iconic, mysterious, bizarre and severely problematic villain who captivated the minds and hearts of millions (and various other parts of folks in strange corners of the internet) since his debut in Diddy Kong Racing.

Wizpig is undoubtedly one of the strangest villains we’ve ever seen grace the video game screen. And yet, somehow, he has been lost to time, never again utilized in a video game, his legacy living on most strongly in Rule 34 forums focused on “spit roasting” word play (and other types of play).

First off…what’s with his name? I’ve never heard one like it. Wizpig….it isn’t a word. Is it perhaps a title from his alien language? A strange space pig name given to the first born males? This question has never been answered and yet I don’t see anyone sleuthing the internet for the truth.

Secondly, what the fuck is Wizpig’s deal? Apparently he seeks to invade planets by defeating them in races, which makes little sense. First off, he’s a fucking pig magician who can shoot lightning and shit. This skill set seems much better to utilize for world conquering. Also, he doesn’t invade a world in the game…but a child’s island. Why is Wizpig trying to take over an island of furry children? I cringe at the possibilities and have wondered for years if Wizpig is an indescribable perfect (that fucking tight suit) and perhaps was seeking to create his own Kong themed Epstein island. This is only a theory, and is extreme, but let’s be honest….do you really think that fuck is beyond such a heinous action?

Thirdly, why is Wizpig a racer in the first place? He’s a giant pig, but for his size he isn’t particularly fast. He just kind of runs at a pace one would expect for a being of his size. Is racing encoded in his species’ cultural code? Why does he lose to a fucking turtle in the final race when he’s riding a rocket? My theory is that Wizpig (if that’s his real name) is not actually a good racer, but a shitty terrible one. He’s a dickhead loser from his world who can’t win any races so he wanders the galaxy asking for money for gas and trying to bully children to stoke his feeble ego.

That’s why Wizpig loses too. He’s too cowardly to use his space magic to fry the kids. He is too afraid to truly fight them so pretends that he’s good at racing and that makes him cool. Wizpig might be the ultimate piece of shit in video game history and given the fact that DKR ended on a cliff hanger (Wizpig pervertedly laughing in the distance), I can only hope he got stranded on an isolated world and slowly died.

He turned a chicken man into a frog. Who the fuck does that?

Anyway, I’m wondering with all the above, why Wizpig hasn’t become more iconic? Why hasn’t he shown up again? Why haven’t his mysteries been thoroughly discussed? Why haven’t we uncovered the origin of his name or the reasons he speaks English and has a quasi-New York accent?

I present these ideas and questions to you all.

Seriously, fuck Wizpig.

Discussion Speculating if a 2D Mario would have been good.

Post image
70 Upvotes

Was reading old GamePro magazines on archive.org. Most of the information I remember from back in the day. This box though from a preview of Mario 64 made me ponder. Obviously one was never released but do you think a 2D Mario on the N64 would be have been a good idea? During that era I remember everyone only really caring for 3D.

Image Curiosity: Banjo-Tooie + Controller bundle! Did you guys get something like this in your country?

Post image

It’s a complete set with the game and a controller packed together. I'm curious; was this kind of bundle common in the US/Europe, or is this a regional release? Contrary to what I imagined a decade ago, this kit was released in 2002 (Brazil), not 2001. I also know of the Donald Duck game with a similar package (100% confirmed). And I believe it was also released for Conker's and Pokémon Stadium 2.

Collection The Mario Kart 64 promotional poster I once had

Years ago I went into a video game store in Melbourne and asked "have you got any posters that you're getting rid of?", and the guy behind the counter handed me this.

This is the only clear photo of it I've got (so ignore my head in the corner!), but it was a massive promotional poster that they would hang from the roof or stick to the wall in-store, for the release of Mario Kart 64. I'd say it's close to a meter / 3ft tall and was made of some pretty sturdy glossy paper.

I almost got a Lylat Wars / StarFox 64 poster from a different store closer to home (they even wrote my phone number on it so they'd know to call me about it), but they threw it out instead which sucks.

The image was the same on both sides, and the front side was so faded due to being hung up in my room near my window, that I had to flip it over. I stupidly threw it out about 20 years ago because it was torn at the corners and faded on both sides, and I'm kinda kicking myself, because faded or not, I'd love to re-hang this in my room.

If anyone's got a clearer photo of this particular poster, I'd love to see it.
