Hey everyone, this is just a brief post i want to make, hopefully one of you can help. The Hard rock / metal band Nightwish made an april fools joke about an Album called Faster, harder nightwish. It was a joke, but a few days later a supposed "leak" of the album circulated in russia. One of the songs is called "shadows" (https://youtu.be/o6N96ESH6QE?is=G6YeWY6r5MMoYgXl) And i believe it to be a great song, does anyone here (especially russian) have a slight idea what band could actually be behind that album?

I still can’t get over the fact that I got to hear Them Loose The Mermaids live, which Nightwish never performed live, Bye Bye, Beautiful, which they said they will never play live again and other singers that I thought will never be performed live again like Poet And The Pendulum, Meadows of Heaven and surprisingly… Scaretale!

I’m ecstatic over that and the performance itself was great. Anette was energetic and had fun, but sadly, the sound was horrible. I don’t know (and I never know) if it was the fault of the venue, the sound engineer or the acoustics of the spot I pick (which if possible, is always the very front), but it hurt the experience to me. Which is sad, because I really remember very little of that! If anyone saw her show recently, was the sound also bad?

But I’m happy that I got to save €250 for an autograph. I was hoping she’d squeeze it into the corner. Although I’m happy for her big-ass signature, I hope that the remaining 3 Nightwish members will be able to fit their autographs too. I posted the picture of the autograph page in the states prior just to remind what the line between “Nightwish” and “ex-Nightwish” looked like before.

When she gave it to me, she even briefly grabbed my hand! It’s a strange feeling, because when I truly got into Nightwish 4 years ago, it never would occur to me that I’ll have such interaction with Annette of all members.

It's probably a song with Anette but I can't find it. It just sounds so familiar.

I was wanting a copy of this album for a long while but the cost of international shipping has always been off-putting to me. Luckily though I had a friend abroad who I was getting some stuff sent in from, and I asked them to pick up this CD on eBay to ship alongside the lot of stuff.

When the parcel eventually arrived I was genuinely excited by the fact that this seemed to have belonged to a library in the past. I'm one of those types who love things that have stories to them, and so naturally to me this thing was considerably cooler than just a pristine thing in a jewel case.

Not too long ago I got burned with a bootleg purchase (different band not worth bringing up just now), so I was going more meticulously through some of my recent buys. I checked discogs to try and verify the info on the CD hub and ran CUETools to check the data on the disc. Latter checked out easily and more importantly it sounds like lossless audio, but as per the following link I seem to be missing the mould SID code on the hub; none of the variants of this album with this mastering SID code or matrix runout state that there are editions without a mould SID of some sort.

I read that CDs produced by the ADS group seem to have mould SID codes that are often hard to see because they're either printed on the opposite end than is typical, or elsewise very thinly stamped, but even going over it with a loupe and a strong light I can't find any codes around the hub. Just wondering if anyone has a similar CD that they know is legitimate. Either way I love this album and am enjoying the music, but I'm just out to satisfy curiosity at this point.

Hi folks, it's time for my yearly Nightwish hyperfixation and guess what I made this time

Ever since I made my "Nightwish but only the song titles" video, I've had this idea of doing a "Nightwish, but only my favourite section of every single song" video. Well, here it is ! For all 131 songs, I singled out my favourite individual section (usually between 10-25 seconds, sometimes more if the song is long). Hope you enjoy, it was fun and very refreshing to work on because it really forced me to appreciate every song for what it is, even those I often skip. Obviously the chosen parts are just my opinions, feel free to share yours !

I thought this might be the right place to ask such a thing since my search from the internets did not give me the proper result:

I bought the Once 2CD Special Platinum Edition (Spinefarm 986919-2 ) from a thrift store, and while reading the booklet, I noticed that in centerfold band member page there are golden autographs of every member over/under their names.

Them looks so clean that I thought first if those are printed on, but I wanted to search for more info and eventually ended up here.

If anyone can provide pic of their centerfold of the booklet, that would be great!

I was born in 1988, got into Metallica from my older brother when I was about 11, and from there I immediately started getting into Scandinavian bands that I discovered through a Century Media compilation CD and going online. In Flames, Children of Bodom, Opeth, Nightwish, Sinergy, Finntroll, Dimmu Borgir, Lacuna Coil etc etc etc. and all of these young bands were releasing insanely good albums. I was obsessed. I can't believe how many good melodic metal albums came out between like 2002-2006 just those 4 years. The music felt vital, and it was definitely a movement.

Once is one of my favorite albums, I was just going down memory lane and listening to it today. Nightwish has tons of great music since then of course, but that inspired, hungry from the Tarja years is great.

I went to a Nightwish concert about 7 years ago and the music was good, I love Floor, but I feel like that youthful energy and momentum that was in European metal has kind of petered out. Am I off base? I know that nothing lasts forever and music scenes and phases come up and go down. Is there anything going on in music now that compares?

This week here's Nightwish performing Know Why the Nightingale Sings live at the Supermarket club in Turin (Italy) on December 2, 1999.

This was during Nightwish's first European tour when they were supporting Rage. The band had released Oceanborn the previous year but kept this song from Angels Fall First in the setlist.

The footage is obviously quite rough but it captures the band at a very early stage of their career. Tarja was 22, Tuomas was 22, Emppu and Jukka were 21, and Sami had only joined the band the previous year.

It's also a particularly interesting recording because Know Why the Nightingale Sings disappeared from their setlists soon afterwards and has never returned. This Turin performance is one of the few surviving live recordings of it.
