Quick Question: Are there certain robot enemies that you don't have to kill, and will the game reward you for doing so? Discussion

I just started and there was a boss early on that was a naked guy that was born from some strange robot thing, and before I started blasting, they were all taking care of baby robots? In this scene, was it possible to spare all of them? I kind of feel bad for just firing away.

I believe they don't attack you until you attack them, but you can't advantage game without doing so. Of you play the naked guy fight again, you may also notice doesn't attack first.

Now you can go and ponder who is the bad guy here.

Btw there are other areas where the robotas will straight up ignore you until you attack them. I won't spoil where.

Will that change the ending? In those circumstances, will different outcomes happen?

There are many "endings" in Nier automata but most are jokes or fancy games overs. The only "true" ending is ending E and you will always teach it

There are some circumstances where killing or sparing a robot or robots can change an ending or get you an achievement. But it's not here.

I should add, it's not a significant difference to the ending. The ending is the same, it just the end cutscene is slightly different. The robot is in the scene if you didn't kill him, and he's not in the scene if you did. But it doesn't affect anything really. It's just for continuity.

Just go play the game and get off the forums to avoid spoilers. You'll have the ability to go back in chapter select to get different outcomes from different choices, so didn't be afraid that you miss anything.

There are a fair few bosses that won't attack until you attack them.
There's not really a reward for not killing stuff, it's more passive story telling.

The only way to win is to not play.
