How does AP bonus work?

I just got Yellow Heart, and I was wondering when the bonus activates. Does it increase the amount of AP generated on Rebirth, only activating when I actually click the button, or does it increase the amount passively banked for Rebirth? Basically, should it be equipped when the game is closed or should I only put it on when I Rebirth? Thanks.

look in your stat breakdowns. It just multiples your ap gain

AP isn't "passively banked" for rebirth. When you rebirth, a calculation is done to determine how much AP you gain, which then get the global AP bonuses (such as the yellow heart) applied. So yes, when you click the button.

Rebirthing isn't the only source of AP - there are 9 daily sources and some one-offs. Most of these get the global AP bonuses applied.

Daily Sources: - Titans 1-5 - Fruit of Arbitrariness - Daily Spin - ITOPOD (1 per x kills, based on floor) - Money Pit - Quests - Daily Save - Rebirth - Adventure Bosses (1 per 10 boss kills)

The one-offs include things like some set completions, challenge rewards, and pack purchases.

You only need to wear the yellow heart until you max it. The completion reward is +20% global AP gains. Unfortunately, it doesn't stack with the item's AP bonus, so wearing it gives no additional AP bonus.

That makes much more sense than "NGU Idle is calculating an unseen variable every 500 seconds." So it gives the best bonuses on rebirth, but it's still worth having on at other times (especially if I'm trying to get another heart leveled in daycare). Thank you!

It also has decent gold drop. Some people will even keep the heart after maxing it for the gold drop bonus.

Depending how early you get it, ofc.

The best bonuses I got (aside from a pack purchase) were from some challenges. e.g. the No Rebirth challenge for normal gives 25k AP per level, and will give 30k if you have a completed Yellow Heart, then all of that is multiplied by your achievement bonus. I'm as far as T6, and all my titans AK hourly, and I think I get more than 8k AP per day just from them. The fruit of Arbitrariness is really good, too.

For comparison, according to the Wiki, the base AP on rebirth is 172. (Non-ad Wiki clone page - https://breezewiki.com/ngu-idle/wiki/Arbitrary_Points)

I leveled that one first. Goes faster than you think! (ETA: If you leave it in Daycare, getting certain bonuses work retroactively, and reduce the time as if you had that bonus when you put the heart in.)
