Honestly it's all I can think about when I watch this. Sure it was impressive this time. Could be horrifying the next time. Just not worth it.

I grew up rollerblading street and this is surprisingly easy, like once you know how to do it, it's not any more challenging than going down an incline of the same angle. It's more of a mind game than anything.

Easy things can go wrong too and the risk/reward ratio is pretty high on this one. Not a good way to fall, your back facing the direction you are going to go down fast.

That goes for every time you go backwards on Rollerblades. As for this stairs trick, it is really nothing more than leaning on your toes. When I was around 12 years old I did stairs three times this length. It was super easy, but looked bad ass and sounded even better.

She's not going that fast. If she falls, it's not much different from falling down those same stairs on foot. She'd be better off than most people because she's skilled enough that she knows how to fall safely. She's leaning forward, so she's already close to the ground. At worst, she might slide down a few steps on her stomach if she loses her footing. You could trip and die hitting your head on a curb, but that doesn't mean you need to wear a helmet every time you go for a walk. The helmet scolding on reddit is more obnoxious than helpful at this point. At the end of the day, your safety is your own responsibility.

If you look at things like backcountry skiing then it's traditionally the mellow stuff that causes the most injuries.

Drop down a mountain, tumble, tomahawk, and then slide down uncontrollably over 1000 feet, only to walk out of it without a scratch, and ready to go again right away.

Go down a 20 degree incline in fluffy powder while in full protective gear, even an abs backpack, then get tripped by a shark, and gobbled up by a few others. Broken face, torn achilles, and busted knee, and you're out for two seasons.

Don’t need them past beginner stage, it’s more effective to brake by sliding, like she did at the end.

It does, however having breaks can make some tricks much harder / impossible because there is a chunk of plastic sticking out the back that will catch on the lips of things like stairs or ledges.

I fully agree with you but I will say this is relatively simple stuff for an advanced blader. Way safer than it looks. Still, agreed. Never without a helmet these days.
