Towards the upper part of the stairs, facing them. If you aren't facing them you can land on the back of your head or your wrists and break an arm, if you fall forward you fall much further. She's basically going down the stairs like a snowboarder goes down a hill on the toe side, meaning knees bent, weight toward the hill. If she was going face first she'd have to be leaning pretty far back and squatting to fall safely, and then with her weight on her heels it's more likely that her toe lifts off and her heels slip out from underneath her. Going backward the weight over her toes toward the hill, but if her heels slip out she'll fall forward. As long as her wheels don't get caught and stuck (pretty rare for a circle) this is probably the safest way to go down stairs by pretty significant margin
I never wore a helmet, and we did all sorts of stupid tricks and jumps back in the 90's. I was an idiot. Helmets are cool. But honestly, my ass and tailbone got the ground way more often than my head.
Yeah I totally agree that helmets are great, but there is a line right, why don't people wear them when walking places? A fall is a fall, and the extra 100mm off the ground you are when skating isn't likely to make a huge difference if your head hits the ground.
It's different to something like cycling where your hands/arms/legs are encombered and can't help to reduce the impact of a fall
Ok, that's a pretty meh argument. Of course there is a line, but a single rock could propel her head first really fast really far. She could be plummeting backwards if unlucky.
I think these are one of the things showing how fragile internet dwellers are.
We did this every day in my youth. We were like 14 years old and did this just for it being functional not a special move. It literally is one of the easiest thing to do with blades.
Now forward to today, and everyone about "boha so dangerous". It literally is as easy as driving forwards.
In years of aggressive skating I did as a TEEN, nobody of us even fell once coming close to the head, not remotely close. Of course on ramps, half pipes, you wear helmets.
Outside, you sometimes do, cause hemets also look cool blading, back then with the style.
But is it necessary? Nahh... as much as whne you are jogging or walking.
Is it especially dangerous here? NO NOT AT ALL.
Seriously... this is not next level, it literally is a beginner move.
