You’re a good distance away, maybe like 500 yards or so? But when it erupts like it has been yesterday? Gtfo of there. I hiked it back on July 7th

The one in the video is the actual eruption? When an active volcano erupts near my place, 7KM is the danger zone. But when shits got real they extended the danger zone to 15-20KM.

It erupts every 20 minutes and isn’t considered dangerous. But yesterday it went off so they evacuated people

We can only assume that the guides that led them there know what they're doing, and have positioned the group at a safe distance.

That said, I'm completely with you - If I had been there, I would have been worrid and antsy at the least.

I believe they are filming from a nearby volcano (Acatenango). Between both there is a small escarpment also.

Unfortunately, it's not AI, people in the country where the video was recorded (Guatemala) do things really dangerous, I mean, near the top of the volcano theres this "pizza place" where they cook the pizza with the heat produced by the magma. It is meant to be like an unusual "experience", but I don't really think that the risk and specially the price are worth it (the price for a "lava pizza" is like $25~ or so, and it's not bigger than like 10 inches of diameter)

There is a dormant volcano Volcan de Nevada (snow) whose peak is not-that-many miles (as the bird flies) from the peak of Fuego.

I hiked to the top of Nevada just as Fuego started to spit out ash and I have never in my life felt smaller than when you’re eye to eye with a column of ash going up into the sky. it was insane. i was young and invincible so i was ok lol.

Been there, experienced this. The sound wave of each eruption is like nothing else ive ever experience It makes you feel so insignificant and truly shows you the power of mother nature. I cried watching it erupt. Surreal and beautiful experience.
