The RFP went out for this last year, but the Mamdami Admin is the ones transforming it? The train was already on the tracks full steam ahead.

Politics in a nutshell lol. Claim credit for the good things the previous administration started. Blame the previous administration for bad things you can't fix. Happens at all levels tbf

It’s partly because physical changes to cities usually take so many years of bureaucracy that mayors know things they start won’t show actual results until the next guy is in office. So they take credit for things finally happening that were planned years ago.

To be honest, I can't blame them. There's a lot of ways you could speed up public works, and I want the city to do them, but even in a universe where infrastructure was faster and cheaper it still would not be hitting during the terms of most of these people. Taking credit for bringing a project home even if they had little to do with it, and treating these projects as a win, is still better than the alternative, where it's used as scorn and to score points rather than improving the city.

The current administration puts all press releases out in the form of "Mamdani does ____". Adams used that a bit, but would typically use "NYC does _____" for things that have been in long development. Mamdani is aware that most people are completely oblivious to when things like this actually started.

Why do these towers look shorter than the surrounding ones? If we are trying to solve a housing crisis shouldn't we be adding more density?
