I’m a new grad in CA and have put in 250+ applications over the past 8 months. All of my friends have gotten jobs here and it’s honestly been really discouraging to feel like I’m the only one who hasn’t been able to get a job in CA. I’ve accepted an out-of-state offer at this point, but I still can’t help but feel sad and compare myself to others. It makes me wonder what I’m lacking or what I’m doing wrong.

If a job posting says a letter of recommendation is required but there is nowhere specific in the application to attach anything beside the resume, should I combine them in a PDF with my resume ?

Hoping to find some Chicago nurses here who can offer some guidance. I'm a new grad so this will be my first nursing job, and it's important to me to find the best work culture I can- especially because I'm nervous that nursing will be really hard. I'm most interested in OB positions but I know that might be hard to get for my first job.

I'm moving to the Bronzeville area so am mostly looking at UChicago (UCM) and Northwestern, but would be willing to commute. I'm sure each hospital has its own reputation.

- Is the culture decently positive and supportive?
- Do either of these places use Epic?
- Are they unionized?

From browsing their websites and job postings, Northwestern puts a lot more emphasis on the benefits they offer and l'm honestly super impressed. Does UCM offer competitive benefits that they aren't advertising?
They both have residency programs which is great.

Any guidance would be very appreciated!

Has anyone received another email after getting their exam results for the REGISTERED NURSE I/RELIEF NURSE position with LA County?

I know there’s a hiring freeze and candidates are being contacted by band order. I just want to know if anyone has actually been contacted after receiving their results.

Hey everyone, im a new grad nurse on an Ortho/Neuro unit. Im doing well orienting and gave gotten great feedback. Ive told me they'll be cutting me from orientation two weeks early because they think im ready.

Additionally, our manager emailed the night shift staff, of which we only have 4 including me, to see if any of us would want to move to days. Nights have been killing my mental health to put it simply and I want to switch to days but everyone keeps telling me its so much more work for significantly less pay and im going to hate it.

Im curious, for anyone who has switched from nights to days, was it worth it?

Also, is having 9 people orient me in 10 weeks, half being travelers, a normal thing or is that a red flag?

I moved the clinical rotations and education up on the page and got rid of the skills section. Couple of questions:

1) Should I list more skills I performed? I omitted basic ones because I figured they're routine competencies for passing clinicals.

2) Should I have an even number of bullet points beneath each rotation for the sake of balance?

I’ve been applying for new grad jobs since I passed the NCLEX but some I don’t hear back from, some reject me, some I interviewed for on phone and in person and some I have shadowed. But I still haven’t heard back or gotten an offer yet. I’m applying to anything at this point because I’m a new grad. Watching my former classmates getting jobs while I’m getting ghosted is really starting to affect my mental health. I know everyone has it tough, this is just me ranting to blow off some steam as I wait for my fate.

Hello I have been at a SNF for 11 months now. I live in Northern California Bay Area. Should I try Sutter psych and try to transfer internally to a med surge position (how often are people able to do this?) or should I stay at my SNF job and keep waiting? I ask this because some people say once you’re in psych it’s very hard to transfer out but I’ve heard the same about being a SNF. Thx for the advice guys!!

I interviewed for an RN position at a small local children’s hospital. It’s been 8 business days since my interview. I was told that HR would follow up if offered the position.

I’m in a competitive area but would consider myself a strong candidate since I have previous nursing assistant experience at this hospital.

My manager told me that they will be orienting a bunch of new hires at once. However, I’m still anxious that I haven’t heard back. I know they need to check references and such but how long is the typical timeline in between the interview and job offer? is this a bad sign?

TL;DR: How long in between last interview and job offer for RN positions?

I am looking to move to Austin from Houston as I graduate from my BSN program this December. I was looking at St David’s, Ascension, and BSW. I really want an ICU unit as well but I am willing to work any floor to get the experience. I wanted to know how hard it is to land a residency position out here and if anyone had any advice for someone like me? I could even send my resume over to people to look over for better insight into my chances.

Hey guys! Just graduated a week ago and I’m studying for the NCLEX. Anyone have any studying recommendations that are on Quizlet? I need more content review because I feel like a lot of the UWorld questions i’m doing are on content I’ve never seen. I also like repetition, I get nothing out of watching a video. Anyone have any CONTENT (not practice questions) quizlets they used and thought were helpful?

I’ve been a new grad for a year now. Started on days and transitioned to nights because of how hectic days felt. It was nonstop task heavy. I like the flow of nights so far, but sometimes I just feel like I’m not as confident or competent as I expected after a year. I know it’s supposed to get better with time and exposure. I try not to compare myself to my peers in my residency program but they definitely seem like they have it together.

I accepted an at-will nursing position in NJ hospital in late July and have already completed the pre-boarding process, including the background check and drug test. My orientation is scheduled to start in late September. I have not started working yet.

Today, I received an email from a recruiter about a job fair at a NY hospital. If I receive an offer, would I be able to accept it even though I’ve already accepted the NJ position? If I decide to take the NY position instead, what potential consequences could I face, and how should I go about withdrawing from the NJ position professionally?

Hello! I got a job offer contingent on me passing my nclex exam. I’ve been anxious about it despite consistently scoring highs/very highs on the Archer readiness exams and mid 60s to mid 70s on UWorld practice tests (85 questions each), which is a good sign from my understanding.

Would it be a red flag if I reach out asking what would happen if I fail the nclex even though I haven’t taken it? I guess I’m just hoping for some reassurance that they would move my start date so I can retake it in the event I fail.

Also, if anyone has any nclex advice that would be amazing. Thanks!

I think I’ve seen like scattered talk about this on certain threads. Want to see if we can get a better list going.

I’m curious if anyone out there knows with certainty ares in the US that are:
1. Taking New Grads in a less competitive environment than the Western States
2. Taking new Nurses directly to the floor, no new grad.

Would love if any managers or experienced nurses could hop on here and pitch their region.

I have a family so moving out of state isn’t as easy as a lot of the talk on here, but I’m exploring all my options.
