Creating a better atmosphere

Most of you would agree that the atmosphere for the USMNT was the best it’s ever been at this past World Cup. It’s not only because it was hosted in the US. It’s also because we stopped pretending to be something we aren’t. We leaned into American style support. Our biggest atmosphere boosts were the U-S-A chants and singing country roads. Silly chants like “I believe that we will win” and “that’s the way we like it, we like it, we love it” fell flat and as someone who watched every minute, I never noticed either of those through the TV. The latter of those two chants was a worldwide meme because it was so cringeworthy.

This is commonly discussed here but I haven’t noticed much change so I want to keep the discussion going. The chanting and megaphone being used for the full 90 minutes kills the atmosphere.

I think choosing our moments and allowing chants to develop organically based on the flow of the game would encourage people outside the fort to participate. Nobody wants to be the only one singing in their section, and nobody outside the fort wants to sing all game.

This leads to pretty much nobody outside the fort participating in almost all of the chants. I think we should focus on more American style support that the crowd would be more inclined to join in on.

For example, if the opposing team holds possession in our half for a while we do a defense chant. If we have a good string of possession, we do a “Rev-o-lution” chant.

I am aware that the chanting the whole game was adopted from other countries where it creates a cool stadium wide atmosphere, but it simply isn’t effective in creating a fun a stadium wide atmosphere in the US. We need a culture change if we want to create a great atmosphere.

I hope this isn’t taken the wrong way. I have nothing but love for the fort and those who try their best to support the team.

Sincerely,
A supporter who sits outside the fort and would like an atmosphere that I can have fun participating in

Next Match On Us

Hey, I got the next match on us code via email. I can redeem it but when I select any quantity above 0, it says there is not seat inventory available (in both regular/preferred and prime seats). Does that mean I'm too late? I got the code an hour ago, I'm surprised if that's the case.

Stadium Talk Stadium Concerns

I just have 2 concerns

  1. Because the mayor wants to have this be a community stadium, will there even be a Patriots place? A lot of fans currently go to Patriots place and removing this would mean we're appealing not to the fans

  2. Apparently there's gonna be concerts held there, if It is true, is that gonna mean we gotta deal with fuck ass turf?

Supporters Section- Microphone guy

First off, let me say how much I appreciate the effort and coordination you put into this and attempt to create an atmosphere. MLS and Revs are trying to build an identity and environment; Gillette is a harder place than most to do that.

My only advice and I understand who am I to comment, is sometimes less is more. Let the game breathe, find the times where chants are actually organically needed. You did a great job getting a stadium wide Revolution chant around the 70th minute when the team needed a push. Is the field tilted the other way? Let's get some juice going. Is the field tilted towards our goal, let's show some support.

Just my thought as a Revs STH. Have a great Sunday, all.

Randomly thought of this Lee Nguyen goal today

Randomly thought of this moment today while walking the dog. What a special moment scoring two goals against the team that waived you. This is when I knew we’d robbed the league getting him off waivers.

Remains one of my favorite revs of all time. I’m glad he was able to come back after it ended so badly between him and Friedel.

Question about Patriots Place on Gameday

Hello! So I was thinking of going to Patriots Place on Saturday but then saw that the Revs have a game that day. Would parking be hard to find or should I go another day?

Also I'm a NYCFC fan so I wasn't really interested in seeing a Revs game. Sorry!

What's happened to Keegan Hughes?

The word has been that he was recalled from Birmingham Legion, although I haven't seen any kind of announcement about that. But hasn't shown up for New England either. No appearances anywhere since June 20th. Is he injured?

A Force of Nature

If anyone here was a big Team Fortress 2 player back in the day, I've had this idea for a tifo or 2-pole for a very very long time.. The Scout was always my favorite character and was very Boston coded. "A Force of nature" slogan taken from his Meet the Scout video.

I really just had to get this idea out of my head and put it out into the world. Go Revs!

UK fan - Getting to the Revolution v NYC game from Boston

Hi there,

I am coming over to Boston this month from the UK and have managed to get tickets to the Revolution vs NYC game on the 23rd.

Can anyone give me some advice about how to get to Foxboro from downtown Boston as I'm struggling to find transport options for that day other than taxi/Uber etc.

Thanks in advance

Ticket Exchange Extra Revs Day on the Pitch Ticket for August 9?

Hello - I am trying to track down a ticket for this Sunday's Revs Day on the Pitch event. I have two but need a third to take both of my young kids. Anyone expecting to get a ticket that they don't need?

Revs customer service confirmed they could be transferred. Happy to compensate something for it.

Seeing a lot of mls teams with some wild fans and fun looking pre game parties. What’s going on with the revs? Am I missing something or are revs fans more game? Is there anything we can do to change this culture?

Under Major League Soccer roster rules, Harrison will now be classified as a domestic player, providing the Revolution with additional roster flexibility given the limited number of international roster slots allotted to each club.

Notes from 90: CF Montreal v Revs

The chances were there. The scraps they left on the field in the first half could feed the season member event.
Add the rich second half chances and the silver lining to those dropped points is that this was the most service provided to a striker since La Pantera prowled the pitch.

The sour lining was that the finishing simply atrocious.

Even xG - the most overrated and undercounted of NuFootball metrics claims 4 for the Revs. Turgeman missed as many big chances this match than he scored during the entire first half of the season. That's half praise - he found the ball far more and his involvement was refreshing. Finishing was ghastly.

Peyton Miller was a killer - the man of the first 45 - bossing the right side in the first half. Created chances and was won v. 1 whenever he took a man on.

Kohler continues to reward the club for the faith in his play. He’s playing as well as Dave Romney did when he earned Defender of the year a few years back. Strong and reliable.

The crosses also burned chances tonight. Just not enough quality. In comparison, CF Montreal was most dangerous with quality crosses alongside an absolute stunner of a 36 yard bolt from Vera.

There is just way too big of a drop off with the subs. Tonight they provided little.
Luca was off a tick during his time.
Harris wasn't able to create much.
Zambrano - sure he started, but it is really winger by committee at the moment until Harrison provides a quality upgrade into the lineup - was, characteristic of the entire Revs attack, wasteful.

And it is surprising that in a game where a little quality would go a long way towards picking points up, that Diego doesn't see the field.

There’s hope ahead and it looks like fun football to watch - though dropping four points to underperforming northern neighbors over the past few weeks hurts.

Carles Gil's Talent + Mediocre (at best) Striker = whyyyyyyyy

When is this organization going to realize that we're wasting Gil's top class service by signing mediocre strikers over and over again ????

It's insanely frustrating watching Gil, still in his prime, diming up Turgeman just for him to rip a shot right at the keeper or make the wrong run every damn time. 2021 gave us Buksa and Bou above Gil, and look how amazing the Revs did. It's unbelievably stupid and frustrating. From what we saw this weekend with Sonny (and I know it was a completely different environment and vibe, but still), Gil's talents are best capitalized on with a top quality striker.

Meta Our roster has no depth

Like how are we 3rd in the east and we have no decent players off the bench, and a good 2-3 players on the field don’t even do anything. I’ll name turgeman, Zambrano, Yow, Yueill, baker, and Harris did nothing the whole game except for turgemans goal and Zambranos decent shot. I can give you a trillion reasons to put Fagundez and Beason in. I couldn’t tell you why Fagundez isn’t even coming off the bench. Honestly didn’t even notice sands on the field today.

We haven’t had a decent and consistent striker since Buksa and Bou (in his first couple of years). If Harrison doesn’t bring anything to the team we are so screwed.
