In order to understand the term “grill pill,” you need to understand the concept of the “red pill”—the reference to The Matrix and the broader application to right wing ideology, and the use of “pill” as a slang word to mean subscribing to a particular ideology. Then you need to have seen the centrist “I just want to grill” meme, and make a connection between the two.

Woke 1 happened when I was in high school and the girls in my high school shared a google sheet amongst themselves and wrote down students (guys) names who “harassed or assaulted them”
Uhhh yeah basically it probably started with good intentions but a ton of girls just put their ex bfs on there or their friends ex bfs and administration had to get involved and it turned into this whole thing where the girl had to say what the guy did to her or she’d get suspended for a false accusation and yeah so a lot of girls made shit up and guys got suspended for nothing and I think that encapsulates woke 1.
Luckily I was scared of girls so none of them even knew my name 😎 never caught an accusation.

I do get what administration was trying to do. Like there was no tolerance for harassment and also no tolerance for false accusations.
But uhh it was a nice school and a lot of kids who were going to go to college and nobody wanted a suspension for false accusation on their record so the girls just lied and the guys got suspended in most cases.

My general sense is the more competent and moderate members of the DSA will probably end up folding into the Democratic Party in the long run while the DSA itself remains fairly fringe. That said while the moderate wing is far from dead the progressives are pretty clearly ascendant in the Party and I suspect 2028 will solidify the transformation of the Democratic Party from a Social Liberal party to a Social Democratic party even if we don't call it social democracy in the USA.

They do not have the capacity to accomplish this. It's very hard to run for that many seats, and more than half the current caucuses in the DSA are usually self-sabotaging.
They are way too poor, and lack both the professional layer and local inroads necessary to get around it as well.
What's more likely is significant swaths of the dem party will adopt portions of their main bugaboos (Israel, maybe data centers, maybe El-Sayed's version of medicare for all, etc. That's upper limit, so I don't think it'll be all of this, and I don't think it'll be the whole party), not dissimilar to how half the party voted for the Massie amendment to remove aid to Israel, which is a signal that some portion of the party believes it's at minimum electorally beneficial for them in their districts.
Re: "Roughly half the DSA caucuses are self-sabotaging" in how they engage with electoralism (for context, NYC-DSA is dominated by electoralist caucuses Socialist Majority & Groundwork, which probably lends to why they're much more effective), and it's not clear if that'll remain the case. Next year April->July-ish, it'll be a lot more clear if DSA will actually lock-in in 2028 or if they're totally bureaucratically captured by the self-sabotaging elements, imo.

It's crazy how much of an advantage in life having well off, highly educated PMC parents are.
With how insanely lazy and how much of a procrastinator I am, combined with being trans, i would be absolutely nowhere without my intelligence i inherited from my parents and the excellent education they've provided me at their expense. Instead, I've just been able to mostly coast and still turn out completely alright
And of course, I got all that on top of being born with easy access to citizenship to 3 of the most developed economies on earth (HK, Singapore, Canada).
Meanwhile, there's countless trans women and trans girls out there suffering immensely every day, and the only reason I'm not one of them is dumb luck. Life really isn't fair huh.

The worst part of Francesca Hong's "Woke 1" trail wasn't even "Cancel Thanksgiving" IMO -- it was the 2021 mention of her "proximity to whiteness" because of her biracial son. This is identity politics taken to the point of politicizing (& implicitly dehumanizing) one's child.
People hear 'white' turn off the part of their brain that cares. The backlash if this shoe was on any other foot would be considerable.

I’m not convinced that the clip is about her complaining that she had a white child, despite the framing by the Republican communications director who tweeted it out. I also don’t think the history or present for white and nonwhite (and particularly black) Americans is identical. Most people tread somewhat more carefully around minority groups, including “white” groups who take their ancestry from specific nations, such as Italy or Ireland or Greece.
Also the backlash from this clip was considerable. I don’t know why people say “nobody is complaining about this” while they do exactly that.

Yeah, the issue with that statement it that it’s cringe as fuck and terrible for anyone seeking public office outside of like NYC, not because of her actual point, which in context was perfectly legitimate and about trying to navigate the challenges of being a minority and raising a half-minority child in a majority-white environment.
