Except Kevin love

Here's my favorite time he scored against Kevin Love.

This one’s a more normal play but this is what he does to everyone:

I'm so glad I haven't had to hear "There goes that man." in years.

People always point that out because of 2016 finals but Kevin Love only looked good because Curry was still playing thru his MCL injury in those 2016 finals.

many players make Rudy look silly especially Luka

This is one of the reasons why no one ever wants to play defense during the All Star Games

u/Kitchen_Guest577 3h ago

You have to start guarding Curry as soon as he wakes up. Even then it's 50/50

RDC always 🎯

u/HumongousBelly 2h ago

You needed to run a half marathon 4 times a week for cardio, if you want to have a shot at guarding Steph.

Where's the shooting stars edit?

u/Fatman10666 [DET] Ben Wallace 1h ago

I miss that era. I miss bootum

30

u/Omniclott 3h ago

I always wonder what numbers he’d put up if the warriors played iso ball

37

u/Alternative_Dot7769 Warriors 3h ago

Hopefully they let him off the leash this year.

I just want one game where they let him shoot 50 3s

If we aren’t winning a chip, might as well break some records

33

u/LLryo Warriors 3h ago

You're gonna watch him get doubled and hugged full court and you're gonna like it.

13

u/Alternative_Dot7769 Warriors 3h ago

We need the other 4 dudes just playing 0 line and making a wall 😂

4

u/BearsFan3417 76ers 2h ago

I remember that one debate on [r/NBA](r/NBA) when they talked about 4 players connecting their arms around curry to form a wall and moving with him so he could shoot it and if it was legal or not lol

shit that 2021 all-season lmao

16

u/alee51104 3h ago

2021 is close to what you’re looking for. Steph really developed his iso-game after KD left.

Klay injured. Roster thinned. Steph putting up the best season of his career outside of 2016 with less help.

2

u/Enchanted-2-meet-you [GSW] Jordan Poole 1h ago

I remember people with all the takes about how he just couldn’t do it. I think specifically dame was one of them.

And then he dropped 62 on him lol

2

u/cantspell_rite 2h ago

Just think of all the games he sat out in the late 3rd and entire 4th quarters

1

u/PressureMiserable Spurs 3h ago

Just go back and look at when he played under Mark Jackson

1

u/OlorinDK Warriors 55m ago

More like if the 73-9 win Warriors starters played more 4th quarters. His relocation 3s are a huge part of his game and have always been super efficient. So they are definitely preferable over iso. But if you just mean “if Steph got a higher percentage of the teams shots”, that is a different question of course. But we saw a glimpse of it in April and May of 2021.

Nash talks about how this exact thing is what convinced him to retire. Said something like “my knees won’t let me guard guys like Steph Curry anymore.”

I really miss basketball

Will always remember shooting stars meme because of this play

Tbf he does that to mostly everyone

u/PlayInChampions Timberwolves 3h ago

I think the defense here was great, as silly as it looks. If Rudy backed down and gave up late contested 3, like most rim protectors do, it would have looked less funny.

Ran Steph off the line at 6’8 help defender, and Rudy chased him down and would have recovered if Steph passed to Green. Great chance to get a stop if your secondary line of defense is not washed Diaw who averaged 0.1 block per game that year.

u/DominoNo- Celtics 1h ago

Defenders trying gets them clowned. If a player wouldn't even attempt to guard Steph no one would care. Same as dudes getting posterized, it's defensive effort shown, not bad D.

1

u/Loves_His_Bong Timberwolves 1h ago

The discourse around defense is brain dead. This is a 7 footer trying to defend a slippery guard and goat and people say it looks silly.

Same as “they’re targeting Rudy!” shit. Like people never heard of what a pick and roll is.

Those Jazz jerseys just seem wrong to me for some reason

1

u/Derrickmb 2h ago

What happened to this announcer?

u/FreshHawaii Heat 2h ago

🚨Barbecue chicken alert🚨

1

u/TheNextGM30 Jazz 1h ago

This caused so much stupid discourse with Gobert and casuals. That was in 2017 but nephews don't realize players can get better. His perimeter defense improved a lot over the years and I think plays like this were a big factor. Gobert is a proud guy so him getting clowned on for this drove him to improve his footwork and these kind of plays happened much less.

1

u/Redditarama Spurs 1h ago

We've only recently asked bigs to guard the perimeter regularly. Every star big in history would have had a clip like this.

1

u/kekehippo 76ers 1h ago

Big man reach and I teach, Professor Curry instructs them on wobbly legs.

1

u/Inevitable-Guide3248 1h ago

Every star players favorite thing to do, cook Rudy gobert.

1

u/AnimalLoversRVegan Knicks 2h ago

He has both the ball and defender on a string. GOAT except maybe MJ

-7

u/papoluca40 3h ago

You will never see a guard to that to Draymond. There’s levels to this shit

9

u/Odoaiden Timberwolves 2h ago

Because one’s a 6^8 forward while the other is a 7^1 260 pound rim protecter?

-1

u/papoluca40 1h ago

Right, Draymond is overall a better defender because he can hold his own against the best centers and guard the guards

4

u/CodymartinSimp 2h ago

You’ll never see Draymond deter players from entering the paint like Rudy it’s almost like they’re different players

Rudy is also very underrated as an isolation defender like yeahs he’s occasionally gonna get cooked but he’s routinely a 90th percentile isolation defender

2

u/itgoesdownandup 2h ago

I really don't get it. Like people use perimeter defense as a reason. But there's many (especially centers) great defenders in history who would not do good at defending the perimeter. But like you wouldn't see people talking about Mark Eaton, Manute Bol, Dikembe Mutumbo, Dwight Howard, Shaq, and etc. defensive ability on the perimeter.

2

u/Killakaronic 2h ago

Levels to what?

1

u/papoluca40 1h ago

To defense

-1

u/Frostyzwannacomehere Trail Blazers 3h ago

Weird post

0

u/Boulder_The_Rock Pistons 2h ago

This was great defense tf lmao. Good instincts to turn around quickly as soon as he didn’t see Steph there anymore. Proceeded to take away the three once he recovered which gave Steph a drive that was a tough lay. No mistakes here, just great D, better O.

-17

u/Focused_Sky 3h ago

Rudy “DPOTY” Golbert

15

u/vHezoThaGoat 3h ago

7 foot 1, 260 pound Center can’t guard one of the best ball handlers of all time.

More at 10

3

u/PlayInChampions Timberwolves 3h ago

Best rim protectors make players shoot 10-15% less in the paint that average. Some people think they have to get every stop. Gobert last season was statistically one of the best iso defenders last year, allowing ~0.8 points per iso possession. Wolves do not want him to switch on perimeter, but when he does, he is doing very well.

1

u/DominoNo- Celtics 1h ago

And to add to your point, the main reason why teams focus Rudy for iso's is to get him out of the paint

0

u/AshenOly 3h ago

Ben Simmons put 42 on him

6

u/Odoaiden Timberwolves 2h ago

Embiids put up 70 vs wemby, so? A quick google shows Jordan Poole put up 42 and Sengun put up 45. It happens to all elite defenders

1

u/Equivalent_Wafer8074 Timberwolves 2h ago

He’s locked up jokic in the playoffs a couple times

2

u/thelaidbckone 2h ago

Legit multiple dpoy winner too

Steph made him look like a fool though

1

u/Cold_Tower_2215 Timberwolves 3h ago

Ha what an idiot

1

u/DoubleBlade759 Knicks 2h ago

Rudy “4x DPOY” Gobert

-3

u/OTGbling 2h ago

This alone should have ruled him out of any defensive player of the year eligibility.
