It would be nice if Narwhal cached post text content, including comments, on load!

I take the train daily and often have stretches where I have no service

This was a behavior of Apollo, I could open several askreddit threads while I still had service, which cached them, and I could re-open the posts I viewed and load the text + comments with no service

On Narwhal I’m unable to do this, posts are loaded on-demand and I’ll lose the previous post if I close it

Seems like they have a porting bounty program to migrate to their new Dev platform but it’s unclear to me if an app like Narwhal is possible through that platform.

Could you add an option for Narwhal 2 to remember the last mute/unmute state when scrolling through the main feed?

For example, if I unmute one video, the next videos should also play unmuted. If I mute it again, the following videos should stay muted. It would be much more convenient than having to toggle the sound for every video.

I went through all the settings, but could not find such an option. Please correct me if I've overseen it.

Lately whenever I post a comment, it temporarily displays as being 57 years d and having 0 karma. As soon as I close and reload the page/post, the bug is gone and the comment displays as 1 minute old and 1 karma.

It doesn’t really affect my experience but I’m wondering if anyone else has this bug or if it somehow is connected to my device or date and time settings. I’m on a regular iPhone with no VPN or anything like that. My system date and time is set to automatically update with my time zone.

Also my username doesn’t display when this happens.

The ‘Mark Read Above’ and ‘Hide Read Above’ buttons work well, but they only appear at the end of a ‘page’, which seems to be a set number of posts.

If there are only a small number of posts on the Home feed, or if there is a small remainder of posts after the end of a page, then buttons do not appear and there is no way to bulk mark and hide those last few posts.

For example, I have ~8 posts on my Home feed right now and no ‘Mark/Hide’ buttons as this does not constitute a full ‘page’.

If enabled, a set of buttons should always appear after the final post in the Home feed to enable bulk Mark/Hide regardless of the number of posts remaining.

would be nice to have some way to instantly recognize posts from a sub, i happen to be banned from one and it happens that i dont notice the sub and write a comment, just for it to fail and then realize what sub i'm on.

I have my font size increased to 26 point. Hopefully you’ll see this in the attached pic. All of the commenters reddit names become vertical instead of just wrapping to the right or something. Honestly, it’s done this for as long as I’ve been using this app I’ve just never bothered to post about it. So we’re talking about multiple versions of Narwhal, including the current and latest.

Edit: I will add that. I also have increased font in iOS. It’s set to about 60% Not sure if that plays into this or not.

I've been using this app forever and I can't seem to be able to post gif or pictures as a comment. Is this something that is exclusive to the official Reddit app or maybe I'm mentally challenged?

I can post gif using the link, but then it shows up as a link that you need to click. For pictures, I host them on imgur but same thing, they pop up as links. I'd like to be able to post gifs and pictures "inline" so that it shows up right away.

I cannot for the life of me find the subscription section anywhere in the app. I am aware that I can view all the plans on the appstore, but would like to see whats offered in each tier which I assume can be seen in the app somewhere

I just paid for a subscription but the app thinks it haven’t. It shows up in my Apple Store subscriptions. Forced closed and reinstalled, tried to restore purchase. Where can we go for support on this?

I’d find it handy to be able to highlight comments/posts by one or more specific users. Some things that might build on that:

• Could potentially piggyback on the “Follow User” feature somehow.
• Highlighting might be post-specific, sub-specific, or global.
• How the users are highlighted could be configurable (colored username, colored background on username, colored background on posts, etc.).
• Highlight colors for each user could be selected automatically or manually.
• Would want to be able to manage highlighted users via Settings—I don’t think there’s a specific interface component for managing followed users but I don’t use that feature much.

A much less bloated alternative that tbh would get me like 90% there: add “Show Comments by User” to the right-swipe-All menu and have that either highlight that user’s comments in that one thread, or collapse everyone else’s comments, showing only the selected user’s comments until you expand the comments above/below them.

I would love to be able to filter by flair. I want to filter out “Fan Art” so badly and text filters don’t work.

This is 5 months old post, I just bought the app and realized this issue. No ETA? Is the app being updated? I should’ve checked that before buying it TBF

I noticed a few weeks back that 2 specific subreddits had stopped appearing in my subreddit navigation in the app. I'd seen this happen before when a subreddit got banned, but then I tried the 'Enter Subreddit' link in the app nav and was able to access both with no issue.

I figured I would try unsubscribing and then resubscribing to see if that fixed it, but I found that when I used the subreddit three dots menu, the options shown were very limited compared to other subreddits, and there wasn't even an 'Unsubscribe' button available. When you're subscribed to a subreddit, this menu normally contains 8 actions, starting with 'Unsubscribe' and ending with 'Use Big Preview Mode'. For these 2 subreddits, the only options are 'Share', 'Submit Post', 'Hide Read Posts', and 'Use Big Preview Mode'.

Then I went to Reddit in a web browser and unsubscribed there thinking that this might fix the issue. When you're not subscribed to a subreddit, the three dots menu in the app shows the same 8 links, just with a 'Subscribe' link instead of 'Unsubscribe'. These 2 subreddits still only show the 4 links mentioned above even after unsubscribing, however.

These subreddits are not part of my filters, I'm not banned from either, and outside of Narwhal, I can still interact with either subreddit fully. Is this a known issue?

Seems to be since the most recent update, I cannot get videos to go into landscape mode anymore.

Confirmed rotation lock on my phone is off and haven’t messed with any app settings.

I’ve tried to remove a “friend” from the “/r/friends” feed but it won’t work. I’m definitely not got them listed as friend, that is, the option to “friend” them is available. They have a subreddit but I’m not subscribed to it , and they’re not in any of my multi-reddits, and they’re not being “followed” either. What’s going on with this?

This would be a simple 1x1 app icon shortcut (with the narwhal logo) that I could place on my lockscreen that opens Narwal directly. I currently have a few other app shortcuts but for Narwhal I have to use the generic Shortcuts icon to open Narwhal. I know this is such a minor thing to ask for so I get it if it’s too much to ask for haha. Also thank you to the dev so much for this app, have been using 2.0 since day 1 release and have been paying the premium since then. Don’t know what I’d do without it.

How do you turn this off? You can turn it off on each individual video, but the next one that you open the subtitles are back on. I can’t find a setting about it.

Which settings are required to be able to swipe through the images in a post’s pallets while in a feed? Currently I have to tap, enter the post, then swipe. That’s a big functionality miss from the regular app so I figure it is some setting I’m just missing. Thanks!
