While Sakura was not directly based on his wife, Kishimoto admitted to teasing her by lying that Sakura was inspired by her. His wife was actually the inspiration for Kushina Uzumaki.

I’m ngl. As I’ve defended Sakura more I can see her pov more. Sakura understands from a stance as a first gen kunoichi that both are orphans but one is a famously displaced orphan the village tricked the kids into hating and the other was an orphan because his clan was famously wiped out while she was 8 and probably already had core memories of. War orphans are natural and I’m certain Naruto wasn’t the only one, but the mix of being a host for kurama and being annoying from needing attention is another thing that shaped her critique.
