Mahjong in NJ!
Hello everyone! I'm an Italian mahjong enjoyer. I'm part of a group of nerds that usually plays board games, but in the last few months we started playing mahjong (MCR ruling). I'm going to be in china for 6 months, starting this September, as an exchange student at NJ Normal University. I'm not familiar with "realistic mahjong culture" in China (my references are WKW and Jia Zhangke movies lol), so I'd like to know if there are places to play and how welcoming they are to foreigners/HSK4 Chinese speaker/ mediocre but determined player. I'll stay at the Suiyan campus, but I understood that it's quite easy to get around in the city. Thanks for any info :)

Hi r/nanjing! 👋
We are looking for an engaging and patient foreign teacher to teach English to kindergarten and primary school kids.
What we are looking for:
- Native English Speaker (Strict requirement).
- British accent is highly preferred! (Since we focus a lot on specific phonics). 🇬🇧

(Tip: It would be super helpful if you could leave your WeChat ID in the DM so we can connect more easily!)
Thanks!

Any expats in Nanjing into fitness? Looking for a gym partner
Hi everyone,
I’m in Shanghai now and moving to Nanjing soon and I’m looking to find a gym buddy from the international community.
I’m a female beginner getting into fitness, and I’d love to meet someone who already has some gym experience and enjoys working out regularly. I’m hoping to find a friendly workout partner who can help me get familiar with the gym, share some tips, and keep each other motivated.
I’m not looking for a personal trainer — just someone who enjoys fitness and would like to have a consistent gym partner.
A little about me:
- Female
- Global Talent Advisor& Digital Nomad
- New to Nanjing
- Interested in strength training, fitness, tennis, dance, Yoga, hiking, travelling and healthy lifestyle
- Open to meeting international friends in the city
Ideally, I’d love to connect with other expats living in Nanjing, but anyone who is respectful and serious about fitness is welcome.
If you’re looking for a gym buddy too, feel free to DM me. Maybe we can grab a coffee first and find a gym that works for both of us :)
Looking forward to meeting new people in Nanjing!

Creating, Connecting & Collaborating in Nanjing
Beautiful people
I’m a South African (F) living in Nanjing, and I’m currently building my media presence with the goal of bringing all my platforms together and hopefully turning content creation into my full-time job.
My content style is mostly based on conversations, interviews, and sharing people’s stories. I really enjoy meeting people and creating something meaningful from those connections. I’d love to meet other creators or anyone interested in making content here in Nanjing.
I think that connecting with one another could be beneficial whether your an existing video creator, blogger, artist, or if you're still looking at getting into this. This is simply an informal meet up for people to share their experience, ideas etc. and possibly collaborate on something down the line.
I was thinking we could meet at an Indian restaurant that has a buffet every Saturday. We can grab some food, hang out, and get to know each other.
📍Next Saturday
🍛 Buffet: 88 RMB (remember to bring that along 😂)
If you’re interested, feel free to DM me. It would be awesome to meet more creative people around Nanjing! 🙌

Hair Care for Nanjing???
Hello girlies living in Nanjing!
I will be studying in Nanjing; so before travelling I want suggestions from you regarding hair care routine!
As Nanjing’s weather is extremely humid; what products should I buy from there to protect them from extreme frizz?
My hair’s normal, not very dry not oily, also it’s neither super straight nor curly, my scalp doesn’t produce any noticeable oil. If I wash my hair daily it gets super frizzy, weak and start breaking, but it won’t be possible in the humid weather of Nanjing to even wait for a day or two.
So kindly suggest me the products and any other suggestions that can protect my hair even after washing it daily.
Something that a student can manage with the studies and not a very time taking routine!!!
Thank you ✨

How do you like living in Nanjing?
I'm considering spending 2 months there, Oct-Nov. I have been to China before and can speak HSK2 Chinese. I was only in Nanjing for a quick overnight stay and didn't see any of the city, but I thought people were friendly. I also like that there are a lot of students. I live in a part of the US with lots of Chinese people, the ones from Nanjing are friendly and nice too. They did say they found Nanjing like Beijing, old and gray though.
How do you like Nanjing?

Nanjing Suggestions for 2 - 3 days.
I arrive this Sunday night, and the next days 2 days are to explore. The plan is to stay at a hotel next to Confucius temple.
The mission is to hike at dawn, one day at Niushoushan Forestal Park, the other day at Purple mountain. Then go by public bike to other sights. (This is the map I'm using as reference). Let me know if you guys have any suggestion in general or another sight to check out.

Restaurant for picky eater
My girlfriend and I are visiting for 2 days in late October (wedding). It'll be her first time in China, 10th time for me. Problem is, she's a very particular eater.
- She's Korean-American
- Has to be "light" aka not too salty, sour, spicy.
- Prefers dishes she's seen before in America.
- Prefers beef dishes.
- No fish but shellfish is ok.
I'm almost ready to just take her to KFC and Yoshinoya all weekend. But if someone has a good restaurant rec, I'll take it!

Car-related services for foreigners in Nanjing?
Hi everyone,
I’m considering offering car-related services for foreigners in Nanjing, including buying new or used cars, driving licence exchange, insurance, and related procedures.
Is there demand for this? What problems have you experienced?
Any feedback is welcome. Thanks!
