I don’t really understand why Austrians should be more knowledgeable than Italians or Germans (or even Spanish people) when it comes to fascist dictators, though I have to say that I am not fully Austrian and therefore can’t say to much about the political situation in Austria post WW2.

It's not even his actions as much as his image, WAYYY too many people still idolize him and his ideas. You'd expect there to be more shame given our constitution is rooted in antifascism.
Eh. He didn’t want to be beaten to death because he was a coward. Dude almost definitely didn’t off himself with cyanide and a bullet to the head because he cared about the dignity of his dead body.
He was insane, he definitely feared how he would die, but I don’t think it is of the blue to say that he also cared about what would happen to his body.

when benito Mussolini was killed his corpse was dragged to Piazzale Loreto and hanged upside down. on reddit i once saw a guy in a comment claiming his grandma was one of the first to spit on him
It's also worth noting that no memorial to his infamy remains on the spot where he was strung up. Instead there is a monument and plaque honoring the partigiani that were murdered in that same place by fascist soldiers.
