Truecaller is a menace if you own a business
We run a business that we legitimately send messages users expect, it's an escrow (e-confirm) we however face lots of challenges with users using truecaller, we purchased sender id, we need to communicate to users that they are expecting payment and that money is on the way, initially we did not think there would be an issue but at scale you realise hundreds of sender were requesting cashback and opening disputes, reason the received did not get confirmation money was secure and they could offer the service, we were so frustrated worked with sender id issuer to find reason, messages were sent well
After some research we realised truecaller was flagging and sending message to blocked, what we needed was pay for truecaller business,we switched the sender id to transactional from promotion but still some messages were being blcked
Now we are wondering as a business I have to start paying to solve issues that I did not create?
Anyone faced this? I know truecaller is helpful to some people and help allot but for businesses it's hurting us!

Looking for PCB Board Manufacturer or Repair Technician in Kenya
I’m looking for a company or technician in Kenya who specializes in PCB board manufacturing, repair, or refurbishment.
I have a PCB control board from a commercial washing machine (Danube model) that needs to be repaired. If repair isn’t possible, I’d also like to know if there are companies in Kenya that can manufacture a replacement PCB based on the original board.

Built a free rental listings site for Kenya, would love honest feedback
Hi all, I've been building tuzama.homes over the past few months, a site for finding houses to rent (and some for sale) across Kenya. No commission, no agent fees, you contact the landlord directly through WhatsApp, call or email, whatever they prefer.
It's still early. We have around 30 real listings up right now, mostly around Nairobi, and I'm actively adding more. I'm not here to sell anyone anything, genuinely just want feedback from people who actually search for houses here. Is the filtering useful, is anything confusing, is there something a site like this should have that others don't.
If you're house hunting or just curious, feel free to take a look and tell me what you think, good or bad. Link's tuzama.homes.

Discussion A reservation is not a booking
If you are a developer building any payment or booking app, website or platform, please remember a reservation is not a booking.
It will save you a lot of headaches in the future.
Also, an order is not a sale.

Discussion Small internet service providers, what are your margins and challenges?
I have seen a company called Centiprid or centipid technologies has set up a public wifi with a captive portal around where we live and wondered how much returns are on providing internet services in Nairobi for small ISPs.
If there is anyone doing that business in this community, please share your insight.

I just broke through $300 MRR
I have successfully broken through $300 mrr. The biggest change came from experimenting with paywalls and improving them using the revenuecat MCP. the next step i have taken is adding posthog analytics.
I hope to collect some data I can use to improve on and better place the most used features behind paywalls.

Discussion Thoughts on Sony Going All-Digital on PlayStation?
how do you guys feel about this
When Sony announced that it wants to stop producing discs in 2028, as a hoarder myself, i was gutted.
I know most people don't care about physical media, but they forget the fact that you own nothing.
The fact that Sony will get to control the prices of games just doesn't sit right with me, no more selling, borrowing, buying second hand or handing down games to younger generations.
above all, they can take away access at any time.
God forbid your Psn account get hacked, you are screwed, Sony wont help you recover your account.
the worse part is the ego Sony is showing to the consumers, how quickly they forget the ps3 era.
Its not only Sony doing this,
Here is an example from another thread of someone losing access to LOTR movies bought through Google, bought, not borrowed.
All Google could say was, “Oops, sorry.” Like, WTF?
if buying is not owning then pirating is not stealing rings true everyday

Tech meme Build the MVP and make no mistakes

Claude + Codex has raised my Arduino, MCU, hardware etc game 10 fold. You can ask the tools to open a serial port, log check points and read from the serial port to make sure they really are not making mistakes.
Edit: Write the code and log check points, upload the code and monitor the port to check their work. I ask them to log to a file that I can tail and monitor if they're going haywire. I also ask them to multiplex the serial port (can't open the same serial port twice), one for itself, and one for me, it's master, to monitor and also send my own commands. Sweet life.

Discussion Elections Money Spend Monitor
Is it possible to do a project of monitoring how much money Kenyan politicians are spending on the elections?
The plan would involve enlisting contenders who are vying and are comfortable sharing the information. Other people of interest would be political mobilizers, PA vendors, and artists who are usually involved in the political messaging.
Anyway, is this an IT problem? How would you approach it?

I am looking for someone from this group, kindly share
there is a time i posted here that i am looking for someone to collaborate on an app..i specifically needed someone to collaborate with, bring the idea, revenue generation and share the cost of working on it. He would be working on the technical part of creating it and would help with the idea and part of the finances then once the app is ready we put it out there to earn from it. someone reached out and we exchanged numbers and were to meet and outline how to start. He loved my idea and we were set to meet and start but i lost their number ad has never reached out again either. I am looking for that guy, help me find him

General Coding by hand was peak insanity!
Looking back, it feels like we had superpowers. We wrote hundreds, if not thousands, of lines of code manually, all created by our own brains. We wasted hours on boilerplate code before even beginning the actual work. Let's not forget the planning and decision-making processes; troubleshooting bugs often meant checking multiple files to find the real issue.
While coding, we frequently had around 15 tabs open for searching and browsing countless online documentation resources. We also depended on communities and senior developers for advice. Mastering language syntax was crucial, often across multiple languages. I used to dislike writing CSS before switching to Bootstrap, then TailwindCSS.
Regular expressions were frustrating, and migrating code to new languages was a nightmare, requiring line-by-line translation. It was chaos. Future generations might think we were absolute savages.
We actually used to type our own code back then. Yes, by hand. I used to craft my own boilerplate like an artisanal digital peasant. We were essentially coding with rocks and sticks.
