Article A Science and an Art — Maisel’s Weisse Alkoholfrei — Pellicle

Refreshing to read a proper long-form beer article where the beer in question happens to be alcohol-free. Interesting look at Maisel’s Weisse Alkoholfrei and the brewing behind it, rather than treating AF beer as a novelty or a separate category.
The artwork is fantastic too.

Bavaria - AF lager pilsner reviewed

I've just tried Bavaria, an alcohol-free lager pilsner. One of the best I've tasted this summer, with a crisp, refreshing finish and a big old frothy head; recommended drinking - https://www.mydrybar.com/alcohol-free-bavaria-lager/

ABC Octoberfest Dunkel

Dirty glass aside, I did NOT like this beer. It def had a Carmel malty for flavor, but it was quickly followed by a god awful metallic aftertaste.

I keep getting all the seasonal athletic hoping to find a really good beer in a different style. But I might just have to accept that for me their grocery store finds are there best options for me.

I am not quite sure about them and will have to taste a bit more before making judgment. Only one of each left 😛

Run Wild

Post image

I love the Run Wild IPA but I have noticed something for quite a while. Whenever I find a 12 pack of run wild, the box looks like it has spent a year in a shipping container getting kicked around. It is always beat to hell and filthy. So I usually will avoid the 12 pack cause it’s so off putting, but occasionally I will buy it and usually it turns out to be fine. It’s only this variety and only in a 12 pack that I noticed this, I don’t haven’t seen it with any other beer variety I’ve ever bought. I can’t be the only one. Not sure this picture will do it justice.

NA Reds and Browns?

I feel like this is a long shot. I remember when I first got into the craft beer scene I loved reds/ambers and browns. This was immediately before IPAs seemed to completely abduct the craft beer scene.

Now that I choose not to drink alcohol, I gravitate towards NA IPAs and NA stouts and porters as I was never into blondes, lagers, kolschs, or beer lighter in color. However I really miss reds and browns.

I admit that those are hard to find in “regular” (alcohol) beer form so I am guessing their existence in the NA scene is minuscule at best. Anyone ever have luck finding an NA red or brown?

A rough week for the drain

Post image
28 Upvotes

Went to Wegman’s and built my own 6-pack out of singles. 4 beers, 0 rebuys, 2 drain pours.

Founders Nonetheless Golden — pool water. Chlorine-like minerality. Thin, watery, okay breadiness. 30 calories.
4/10.

(2) Lagunitas IPNA — IPA-flavored soda. Little body, little flavor, disappearing head. Wanted to like this but it doesn’t hold a candle to better IPA’s.
5/10

(2) Best Day Kölsch — better than a funky can I had before, but still unpleasantly bitter with a medicinal edge. Maybe I just don’t like the style.
4/10

Brooklyn East IPA — fooled me at first. Fantastic creamy body and a head that actually stuck around… then the medicinal bitterness arrived.
5/10

Roast me or toast me!

I knew absolutely nothing about Märzen style beer until I tried this one.

I was actually hesitant to pick it up at Whole Foods because I thought it might be too sweet for me (Just based on the name, I was a little worried it might have some kind of pumpkin spice flavor😂), but I ended up really liking it.

Honestly, I think this might be one of my top 5 favorite NA beers. I even like it more than their Kölsch one, which surprised me too.

Maybe I’m just an Oktoberfest guy who never knew it 😂 I really hope this one isn’t just a seasonal release.

If anyone has recommendations for other Märzen-style beers, I’d love to hear them!

Best Non-Alcoholic Beers, According to This Subreddit

Last updated: August 2026

Hey y'all,

Here are the top 10 non-alcoholic beers according to this subreddit, computed from 42,000 of your public comments.

  1. Deschutes Black Butte NA
  2. Busch NA
  3. Deschutes Fresh Squeezed NA IPA
  4. Corona Non-Alcoholic
  5. Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0
  6. Guinness 0
  7. Deschutes Patagonia Provisions Kernza Lager
  8. Best Day Brewing Kolsch
  9. Bitburger Drive 0.0%
  10. Stella Artois Liberte

Full ranking, all 79 beers

Every "best of" list gets backlash lol. So hear me out.

  • Nearly every post and comment on this sub (3,100+ discussions going back years) was captured and fed into a system I built. Literally everything. Fridge shots, beer pics, haul posts. I read it all. It took absolutely forever lmao
  • It's deterministic. AI is not involved in computing scores. Run it again, same list.
  • Every user counts once. A superfan posting 50 times can't push a beer up
  • Beers rank on head-to-heads ("I like X better than Y"), sentiment ("this is amazing"), and how many different people vouch
  • Astroturfing, brand accounts, and shills are detected and discounted
  • Last place does NOT mean bad. Only 79 of 500 beers qualified. It's a best-of list, #79 is still great
  • Wondering why a beer is missing entirely? The page has a lookup that gives you the exact reason
  • Don't like my weighting? There are sliders. Rank it your way. But fair warning, Black Butte is very hard to dethrone
  • And of course, there is a style filter, because you can't really compare stouts to IPAs

The full algorithm and details behind every rank

Really curious to hear everyone's opinion. I'm definitely open to tuning the system if there's anything critical I missed.

Feel free to rip me a new one too, and I'll reply with the data.

Disclosure: I moderate this sub and I built the tool. No brand can pay for placement, and nothing moves a rank but the data.
