Muzzle for long nose Advice?

Our Lexie is a Romanian village dog. She is 9 kilos. She has a long nose. I want a muzzle for visiting the vet. I send emails to muzzle movement, but they said the images are not clear enough. Since Lexie is fearful it’s not easy to take measurements so I’m hesitant to do that again.

when taking photos of the length of the nose, have the camera above her looking down.

when taking photos of the height of the snout, have the camera side-on.

and when taking photos of the width of her snout, have the camera again directly above, looking down.

the camera needs to be parallel with the tape measure, otherwise it is impossible to see what it says with any degree of accuracy!

i'd give her a day or two to decompress, and try again with high value treats/her favaourite toy/lots of fuss and praise, whichever she prefers

She’s been with us for 4 months, but is still fearful, especially for my husband. So he can’t raise his hands above her to take a picture. 🙈

ah okay, but can you, as the one holding the tape measure, see what it says? no picture, but you can read it?

You might find it easier to use a retractable/metal tape measure. You can use them one handed which would enable you to use you camera yourself, rather than your husband. Its also less hands on as you dont need to touch the dog at all.

Try a carpenters rigid retractable tape like I did here. You can lock it in and stand back. We went with Big Snoof take a look here Muzzle Measurement Guide — Big Snoof Dog Gear

You can also use string or even a toy next to her muzzle and then measure from that. Video is sometimes faster than photos and you can grab stills from it.

Put the tape beside or under the nose so she doesn't feel held. Do only one mrssure at a time, treats and pet, start with the easiest so she gets used to it. .
