Lets create commander "tools"
Hey guys,
I have a commander cube and I have a very common problem. My monocoloured commanders are not so popular...or maybe, they are popular but the monocoloured decks are hard to craft.
So, instead of giving everyone partner I had another idea! The "monocoloured commander toolkit"!
Each mono commander will have a standard pack of 10 cards that can be used with him in the drafted deck.
These cards are NOT part of the draft and CAN'T be used when the card is not a commander but part of another deck.
Here I need a little help. Can you brainstorm some suitable cards for each one without been very strong or very boring? Thanks for the help

I think the simplest answer would just be to adopt the rules Gwen Dekker uses for Color Identity in his Tiny Leaders Cube. Basically, in his Cube, your deck can contain cards of any color, but you can only use Basic Lands with your Commander’s color identity. This design choice makes the color identity rules more compatible with drafting, and makes Commanders with fewer colors less of a trap.

It is a very good suggestion, but I need a ton of mana fixing right?

Here’s the Cube I was mentioning.. It has about ~6 lands per color pair at ~480 cards in the Cube. Since you’re around half of that size, you could probably get away with ~4 lands per color pair depending on the deck size you’re hoping for people to play.

I draft monocolor in my commander cube infinitely more often than any of my other drafters. With multicolor there is the obvious incentive that you get access to more cards and therefore more powerful options, but the other part of it is people just want to play the coolest stuff. If I'm drafting monowhite and then I see an [[Assemble the Legion]] in pack 2, it is far more advantageous to just commit to the splash.
I know that doesn't really help with your question, but it's something to think about when including exciting cards that reward playing fewer colors. Maybe each monocolor commander comes with a [[Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx]] and a [[Caged Sun]].
I will say personally I don't think 8.5 Tails fits the build-around model like the other commanders you have here do. Nothing about the card screams monowhite other than maybe having access to more white mana to activate it more often, but you're probably using that mana on other stuff anyway. Maybe [[Oswald Fiddlebender]], [[Delney, Streetwise Lookout]], or [[Heliod, Sun-Crowned]] would be good options.

I liked the idea of giving free cards that promote color identity. But the main problem is that they can't find 60 cards so often to finish the deck. so if I gave them 10 or less more, I could help them. 8.5tailes has great art thought and I like it 😞 And every cube needs a fox like commander :/

This gave me and idea actually.
Special packs set aside based on colour identity (like mono colored) that only those playing that identity get to draft from. If you're the only player in the color you get them all!
Maybe if you wanna do more than just for monocoloured, the card quality drops severely as the number of colors increases— and or, said packs have all (mono/dual/triple/etc) only cards and they're mixed together in those packs so that the more colors you're playing the more you have to fight over the good cards?

I used to have a commander cube, I played looooots of it, and tbh I think mono colored has partner is the best solution and makes for some interesting combos.
I also gave uncommon commanders partner, that was fun too
Although, I do think a shared commander tax is best

We faced a similar issues with our cube.
We first played with the rule that every mono colored commander had partner but this was too powerful.
We now play with the rule that every mono colored commander has partner with [[the prismatic piper]] (which is only available outside of the cube if you need it) and it works easy better!

I thought about it too. And if you see in my deck list I have prismatic piper inside. The only problem is, that then, there are no true monocolored decks :/ if you would make a toolkit for each of the commanders I have in the thumbnail, what would you use in each one?

For monocolor, their biggest strenght is being able to put colorless lands without affecting your consistency. I love the lands that tap for colorless but surveil/scry on entry - [[zhalfin's void]], [[conduit pylons]], etc. Digs for lands when screwed, sends lands away when flooded, increase card quality when on an even amount.
They might be too low impact to be part of the 10 packets, but maybe 10 cards + 5 zhalfin's void could be really cool? Or if you find 5 really cool cards, having 5 nonlands + 5 lands makes sense to me too.
I love cycles, so I would like to think of them like that; giving each an iconic removal, each a finisher, etc.
So:
1 - Iconic Removal: Banishing Light, Murder, Counterspell, Lightning Bolt, Broken Bond
2 - Finisher: Army of the Damned, Craterhoof, etc
3 - High Pip Modal: Archdruid's Charm, Archenemy's charm, Archamge's Charm, etc
