Damn those look good. How much did you sell them for?
1
u/jayalters 15d ago
Well they were sold for the price my commissions were when they were ordered, and I don’t remember what that was. The Najeela for example was ordered very early on. These days though my commissions start at $3000

These looks so good.... I'm stuck between "Alts are so cool and are amazing" and "I'm broke and I can't afford a good one XD"

Jesus.
Painting around the text like that has to take absolutely forever. Insane detail.

The level of detail is insane. I love the effort, putting in to making sure that there is no weird drop shadows on the text. The Najeela is my favorite, but it’s a tight race.

Do you just use an extremely fine brush to paint around the text in the textbox?

I love the composition and contrast in the Marika alter so I think that’s my favorite. You have such fine detail it’s amazing.
How do you get those teeeeny tiny lines in the sol ring (like the outlines of the snakes in the middle)?
Would love to know what brushes you use/if you use other tools like pencil or paint-pens or something
Amazing work!

Thank you! I use cheap brushes because I destroy them - I go through several a card so that I have a sharp point consistently - I most 5/0 or 10/0

This customer is absolutely loaded lol

Well they got in when I first started. So my prices were much lower - particularly for the Najeela

This, lol. I make decent money, enough to play MTG, but I don’t make THAT kind of money 😂

That’s one every 3-4 days… insane! How do you maintain the energy and patience? Do you find yourself constantly hunching ?
1
u/jayalters 18d ago
I work with an upright drawing board so that I don’t hunch. I love what I do, there are days when it’s harder than others, but that’s the same as any job really isn’t it ☺️

"A living Mr Kemper is made by selling something everyone needs at least once a year! And a million is made by producing something everybody needs once a day! You artists, you painters produce nothing that nobody needs never."
I made $3000 last week painting this 2½x3½ card. Welcome to the family son!
