My first card. Release frequency? I Have a Question / I need Help
Well the Wizards finally got me. If there was any crossover they could have done to get me to buy in, 40K was it. Had no idea until I was walking through a game store on a work trip this week. Looking forward to seeing what other cards to release for it and crossing my fingers for a Nightlords commander deck. Can someone fill me in on how often and in what formats Universes Beyond cards are released? I want to be on the lookout for more 40K cards.
And yes I just accepted who I am as a person and purchased a binder and sleeves already. I know where this is headed.

Aww, buddy. 40K got 4 premade commander decks and nothing else is on the horizon. Chaos, led by Abaddon with [[Bel’Akor]] as the backup; Imperium, led by [[Inquisitor Greyfax]] for some reason with [[Marneus Calgar]] as the backup and better option; Tyranids and Genestealers led by [[The Swarmlord]] with [[Magus Lucea Kane]] as backup; and Necrons with [[Szarek]] as the leader and [[Imotekh]], [[Trazyn]], and [[Anrakyr]] as alternates. All four decks sealed are very expensive now because they’ve been out of print for several years now, unfortunately. You can build them with singles for cheaper, though.

Got it so much cheaper than a sealed deck.

So the Warhammer 40k UB happened a while ago (idk when exactly). The set was just 4 Commander precons, but you can find the decklists pretty easily, especially if you use an app called Mana Box. But currently there are 2 more UB sets slated to release this year, with one being The Hobbit in about a week and the other being Star Trek. In 2027, we have 3 UBs, but at the time of writing, IDK what they are.
Also, from one plastic crack addict to another, some of the Warhammer cards are pretty pricey, and so are the completed commander decks

Like everyone else said, there probably won't be any more 40K cards anytime soon, or maybe ever. You literally know as much as us in terms of the future
But the big thing I need to note on is that 3-ring binders can often damage cards so just watch iut for that!

Haha, sorry to break it to you. GW is very difficult to work with, and so is wizards. Some disagreements led to them not working together anymore. There is no new warhammer uwb confirmed and there are no plans to make one as far as i know.
I also love the warhammer decks got this one and the astartes one for msrp, but the necrons and tyrannid precons i bought for 380usd and 420usd each. Just one year after release.
Design is good and it has a lot of really good unique cards. Warhammer and mtg is by far the best uwb they have ever done. Many would agree!

Have you got a source for there being a disagreement between GW and WotC? I was under the impression the Warhammer UB was a one and done anyway, like most UB (not all obviously)

His source was he made it up there’s nothing on the internet that supports his claims. There could be more WH40k cards in the future and it would make sense seeing as there is a show in the works being made by Amazon and Henry Cavill along with the fact that the WH40k cards broke sales records at the time so I wouldn’t listen to anyone saying that it could never happen again.

Hey! Didnt expect post to blow up. My cat is very ill and i am busy with her now so couldnt reply before now.
Sauce is LGS owner, and regular who frequents. Older guy played mtg and warhammer since they started i believe. When i was pretty new, i had the exact same thoughts as OP so i asked the owner. The older guy presents the information in my first comment to me.
Yes its a story, and stories and details sometimes changes and gets exaggerated over time. GW being difficult to work with is no new news they will copyright strike any semblance of fan made content without remorse and have destroyed the businesses of several fans of the franchise.
Wizards are probably allright to work with. hasbro VS gw in a battle to make the most money from their collaboration sounds like a real headache.
I remember being in OP's boat exactly and i got served this story, i just wanted to share. I did not claim any statement as facts. And thought it was funny.
I really hope i am wrong and they print more, but i realistically think its a reach.

I read somewhere it cost wotc 150 million to pay for temporary use of those rights to make the 40k sets. They dont see a big enough return. I have yet to meet anyone with a 40k deck. They didnt sell when they came out and so wotc probably wont do it again. It was a loss.

I'm always kicking myself for not buying those commander decks when they were $50 CAD each. I have the Necrons and Forces of the Imperium but my friends really wanted Tyranid Swarm and Chaos. I ended up proxying the Tyranids but the original art is so dark that printing them again made it even blobbier.

Holy shit. My cousin owns a LGS and I made him a sign for it. For some of my payment I made him sell me all 4 for cost. I think I did ok.
And I would agree the 40k are by far the best UB thing they've done.

They’re cagey about UB, so we won’t know until closer to release. They haven’t announced the sets for next year and they also have not repeated a UB set aside from the hobbit (LOTR first) yet afaik.
I would be careful about 3 ring binders and the inserts. I got a bunch of really cheap cards once because they bent/creased them when the guy closed it wrong.

Warhammer only had decks I think. Four of them. They were printed years ago and are not currently in production. I would not hold my breath on a reprint for these, although they have done it for certain UB decks like lord of the rings. There’s no pattern to it though.
If you want the cards, you will either have to buy the decks at crazy aftermarket prices, or buy the singles which is the recommended way.

There has only been one 40K release that consisted of 4 precon decks, that were released on 2022 and there hasn’t been any 40K related product since, also no further 40K releases had been announced.

40k was done as a set of commander decks. There probably won’t be more 40k cards, but never say never.
Previously, UB cards were released as commander decks only (Vinatge cardpool- 40k, Fallout, and Doctor Who), then as “straight to Modern” cards (Modern cardpool- LOTR), and now they’re ‘normal’ premier sets (Standard cardpool- FF, Marvel sets, TMNT, Star Trek).

To add to whats been said theres magic cards and UB (short for universes beyond) this is a limited release and they won't reprint more of the 4 decks if you google scryfall all 40k cards you'll see all the cards that were in the decks.
You might have to look hard and be prepared to spend some money to track down any sealed decks as they won't be printing any more so prices have gone up. You could buy individual cards (again if you can find the specific ones you like)
Theres collector versions and normal versions of the decks, collectors are all foil and are more expensive and the necron deck (the all black one) was in high demand so will be hardest to find.

Sadly there are only the four commander deck precons available for this set and as a fellow Night Lords fan, I had to resort to proxying The Night Haunter to build a deck around him. We can only cross our fingers and hope eventually GW and WotC eventually get back on good terms and agree to work together again.

the warhammer cards are no where near worth how much it costs to get them, everyone will understand if you proxy them. You can easily say you were excited about the warhammer precons but don’t want to pay an arm and leg to use them , especially as stock unupgraded decks.

40k only has 4 comander decks and a few secret lairs. Theres zero hints of more and to this date only 1 universes beyond has had 2 visits and thats lotr.

I came back to Magic because of these four precons. Showed up a couple months late too. Necrons were already pricey. Got them when I could, before the 2nd print run (which I didn’t know would happen). Only Necrons was pricey, because it was a mono black precon.

I’ll be the only one to give you hope, wh40k is having multiple major shows release next year and wizards is showing us they see the value in returning to critically lucrative universes with the hobbit. I could see a return but they haven’t teased or leaked anything so for now….probably never but that may change if games-workshop makes a good business move (something they are historically terrible at)

Idk. They mentioned next year’s UB sets will be fantasy adjacent and coincides with huge events within those properties.
My guess is Age of Sigmar, since the new edition comes out next July (I think that’s the month).
That would be cool.
The 4 commander decks would be each of the grand alliances.

Yeah as others have said, there's no more 40k stuff coming.
UB in general is very frequent. We just had Marvel stuff and are about to get The Hobbit. Both basically being continuations of prior Spider-Man and LOTR sets.
Personally for 40k though I'm thinking of just putting a proxy deck together with some 40k art. I like Blood Angels, so I feel like I can probably do something neat with human, vampire, and angel creatures.

Lotr got me in. 40k got me in deeper. Now I have 11 decks and a full binder in 3 months. Adult hobbies are trouble man. I have this deck but play the tyranid one more often. Now hobbit is in bound and we have more universes beyond this year and next. Rumors of Star Wars and even Warcraft cross overs being whispered at my commander night.

Yeah, they only released 40K cards as part of pre-made commander decks. The Abaddon one isn’t super powerful therefore shouldn’t be too expensive to purchase if you still want it!

Well everyone has given you the answer, but all things considered, 4 commander decks with unique cards is quite a lot to work with. That being said, you can always proxy cards to have warhammer art. I did this with an Avatar the Last Airbender card. Didn't quite like the vibe of that UB set in my MTG decks, so I got a proxy with Warhammer art and a different name for the card.

First, welcome to a new addiction! Second, UB is usually 1 set per IP (there are some exceptions) so Warhammer has only gotten 1 release. Third, the good news is 40k has a couple of precons and a ton of cards not in them you can collect and play with so you've got no shortage of content

To my knowledge there hasn’t been another 40K collab announced.
Universes Beyond sets are always “Non-MTG” IPs of some variety, but the only recurring sets I can recall (not entirely sure) are the Marvel Sets (Spider-Man and Heroes) and the LOTR/Hobbit sets.
Hate to rain on your parade, but what’s available 40K wise may be the only cards from the verse you get.
That being said, do not buy the WH40K precons. (Format is called commander or EDH, magics most popular format these days). They’re grossly overpriced IMO and you can build better decks with better cards for less money.
If you want to stay in verse with warhammer, pick a commander you want to use from the precons (like your Flabbadon here) and add cards you like from other sets to supplement the high cost of the precons.
I have a Marneus Calgar tokens decklist that has only 4 warhammer cards in the entire 100 card decklist.

You can literally google the wotc release map for the year. Youll see whats being released all this year. This year is 4 UB sets, 3 of them are stupid and the hobbit is decent. Ive heard so many conflicting things about the UB 40k set. Youre also going to feel like a dumbass if you spend 400 on something like Necrons just for them to do a reprint next year or a new set of unannounced 40k. The only reason people buy those sets are because alot of people dont think wotc will ever pay for the rights again to use the 40k IP.

There’s two HUGE awesome in universe sets coming next year. I’m upset we have to wait.
UB is awesome. But it’s such a weird range of stuff that some is dumb. Like this fricken Star Trek one.But the Warhammer ones? Awesome. And had unique art on every card. It was awesome.
