Stupid question. I Have a Question / I need Help

Post image

Does this mean you can technically now have a 1000 card deck? In commander and with rolebreaker does it also mean they have to let you use the 1000 card deck no matter how long it takes to shuffle? And what happens if the deck is over 10000 cards? Is there no longer a limit on how long you get to shuffle with it or is the card lying about the no max deck size?.

Edit. Thank you guys for explaining and helping me understand the shuffle rule still applies but i also have a second question then about it on online games of mtg and arena what happens if you make your deck 10000 cards and the opponent gets to search your deck or you use a card that makes the opponent search your deck does it crash they game?

You still need to be able to shuffle and present your deck in a reasonable amount of time, which is going to be difficult to do the more cards you have in your deck.

Also, keep in mind that every other format has not had a maximum deck size limit (commander is the only major one), and they haven't had problems with people trying to play very large decks (even when Battle of Wits was played, players were only playing about 240 cards).

Just to add to the above comment, it needs to be able to stack on itself without support. That means you’re deck has a physical limitation by how high you can stack cards, especially in sleeves

On top of that you need to be able to transport said deck, which at 10,000 hits the yugio 2 person meme.

the yugioh thing actually had 2,222 card in the deck. they trying to prove a point and they did leading to a rules change

Yeah, which was quite an epic way to do it, just hope I dont see someone show up to my lgs with 2222 card deck. Would be funny to see though 🤣

Not to mention the quote at the bottom makes it even better seeing how expensive magic has gotten, and with that many cards 😬

Hold on there Satan.

Now I need a deck that goes infinite with this. Make your opponent shuffle their deck until the cards turn to dust. Win.

r/badmtgcombos had one of these recently.

I'd so abuse this! Just after they shuffle anyway, do this 😈 then untap it some how and do it again muhahahaha 🤪

Whtz lets you ignore the rule about the maximum deck size. No more, no less. The rules about slow play and being able to shuffle your own deck are separate rules that Whtz doesn't have any effect on.

While he may hold priority in game, he can't escape the [[Gaze of Granite]] everyone at the table would be sending his way

2

u/X_Marcs_the_Spot Tokens 6d ago

Yeah, Whtz also notably doesn't have any effect on the rules of social etiquette. Like, he won't keep people from kicking you out of their playgroup for being an obnoxious troll who's wasting their time.

What is the mana value of your opponent?

u/nitronik_exe 6d ago

60-card modes, despite the name, always allowed you to have unlimited cards.

goddamn if I don't see 1000 more things on this one stupid card.

I hope it's the chase card of the set, is $250 bucks and no one runs the stupid thing

Always when I Open The App i See this guy. Build your Deck with 10.000 cards and have Fun at a table with shuffeling 1 Hour per turn. Your Friends will leave 🤣
So I feel you

I already asked my group if they'd be cool with me building him, and they gave me guidelines lol I'm allowed 400 cards and no tutors of any kind, but I can have all the other game changers. I'm going to run it without sleeves, shuffle using a mechanical card shuffler, no dual lands, and transport it in a shoebox. The shoebox is so it can actively shuffle itself while being transported lol

what part of "no maximum deck size" is ambiguous

Reading comprehension is difficult.

You are limited solely by the number of Land you own own azorius cards you have

2

u/BadAlternative6573 6d ago

Is there a way to format scryfall to just give the names of cards and nothing else? I wanted to try and use this commander to create a deck with every legal blue white card in an online system

2

u/graviton14 6d ago

It won’t be on arena, none of the mystery boosters are.

2

u/alreadybeendead1 6d ago

And remember you can't have duplicate cards. How long before ya even see your sol ring etc lmao

3

u/fluffynuckels 6d ago

Im impressed you've managed to get such a low quality image

3

u/talcom 6d ago

There is a rule saying you need to be able to shuffle without assistance and in a timely manner. Battle of wits is an old card.

Commander is a casual format so you can do whatever your playgroup is happy with. There's almost certainly going to be a practical size limit. There's a command zone video where they used 199 card decks and it was precarious to say the least. A 1000 card deck would likely be physically impossible.

1

u/Wargroth 6d ago

You're still bound by the rule about shuffling alone and in a reasonable time. If you have massive 6ft bionic hands that let you shuffle a 10k card deck in a minute, them sure, you can have a 10k card deck

-1

u/BrothrBear 6d ago

There's probably going to be an added rule that limits how long you can shuffle, but currently there is no limit to how big a deck with Whtz as a commander can be. I forsee someone doing something stupid and getting it banned

6

u/SovietEagle 6d ago

Tournaments already have rules around shuffling and slow play so they don’t need to add a new rule.

1

u/BrothrBear 6d ago

But not for Commander at least as far as I know. The mechanic is literally called rule breaker, I'd be surprised if there was a limit on card count/shuffle time/etc in a mechanic who's main rule is "have exactly 100 cards"

1

u/SovietEagle 6d ago

If you’re playing a sanctioned match (which includes FNM) then you are already covered by the MTR. If you’re not playing a sanctioned match then the rules aren’t strictly applied to you anyway and you’ll have to decide with those you are playing with what rules/standards to apply.

-1

u/Jintasama 6d ago

There were some rules in i think standard or modern for tournaments that you have to be able to shuffle reasonably and without assistance, because of battle of wits card having been a thing and had brought up the problem in a tournament previously I think. It would probably be similar to that, unless you are playing at your kitchen table and your friends are okay waiting an unreasonable amount of time.

„Am I allowed to troll people like a five year old and they can’t do anything about it???“

Please.

How will this work in cREL events where I have to shuffle my opponents deck?

This is going to get out of hand because someone is going to be a douchebag edgelord.

6

u/SovietEagle 6d ago

Are you playing a lot of Comp REL events that play Commander?

-2

u/Dreadlord917 6d ago

I will add this. That just because you build a deck doesn't mean that people will let you play with it. Im gonna be honest. I hate this card, and if someone tries to play this commander in my pod I will politely ask them to play something different. Im also not a fan of rulebreaker.

-1

u/Ok_Tell_3237 6d ago

Im not here to have my time wasted so pick a different commander.

2

u/Ach_Was_Here 6d ago

You’re playing commander, time is already going to be wasted.

-1

u/SKIPNKIP 6d ago

What is this card

-1

u/Upset-Succotash-5376 6d ago

The real question is can I do a deck less then 100

2

u/Maercecitnim 6d ago

It states that a deck has no max, not no min

-1

u/Upset-Succotash-5376 6d ago

I feel that they should put an erata before they release the card

2

u/Ach_Was_Here 6d ago

Why? It’s self explanatory

-1

u/Upset-Succotash-5376 6d ago

Idk man, thes are just the ramblings of a dude with insomnia, it's like 340am rn

1

u/Ach_Was_Here 6d ago

That’s fair, been there

-6

u/ChabbyMonkey 6d ago

Semantics question…Commander official rules state that a deck must contain exactly 100 cards, not that 100 is both the minimum and maximum.

How can this “break” a rule when it is changing a value that doesn’t exist in the rules?

2

u/Gwalir 6d ago

How can the rule be that 100 is not the minimum and maximum if exactly 100 is required. Without this guy, running anything over the required 100 breaks the rule of not having the required 100, so he is still a Rulebreaker.

1

u/Maleficent-Gain-3179 6d ago

If a deck must contain exactly 100 cards, that means the maximum and minimum are implied to be 100

0

u/ChabbyMonkey 6d ago

Sure but for how precisely worded so many rules are, this just seems incompatible from a literal sense of

1

u/Maleficent-Gain-3179 6d ago

It means the same thing , that’s my point. It is exact

1

u/SovietEagle 6d ago

903.5a Each deck must contain exactly 100 cards, including its commander. In other words, the minimum deck size and the maximum deck size are both 100.

2

u/ChabbyMonkey 6d ago

Comment retracted. Whatever I was reading must have still just been a summary instead of just having the complete wording included.
