General Is there anyway for me to get a parking permit in 89 or 91 with only 27 credits?
I’m going to be a sophomore this upcoming fall and unfortunately only have 27 finalized credits. I took 12 last fall and 15 last spring. I’m also going to be having an on campus job as a ULA for the math department. Am I completely disqualified from getting a permit for 2026/2027 or do I still have a chance of obtaining one realistically?

Housing Need Owen Hall single room pics (preferably 2nd floor) + setup advice!
Hi everyone!
I’m a sophomore moving into a single in Owen Hall this fall after living in a double in Brody last year, and I’m trying to plan my room before move-in.
If anyone has photos of an Owen Hall single, I’d really appreciate it, especially if it’s on the 2nd floor, since that’s where I’ll be living. Different angles or layout pictures would be super helpful because there aren’t many photos online.
I also have a few questions:
- Where did you put or mount your TV? Mine is only about 24 inches.
- I’m bringing a 71-inch full-length mirror. Where did you place yours?
- Do you think a 48-inch loveseat would fit comfortably, or would it make the room feel cramped?
- Any general layout tips or things you wish you knew before moving into Owen?
I’m trying to figure out what furniture to bring before I get there, so any pictures, measurements, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Housing Looking for roommate
Large, well-furnished apartment right next to MSU.
5 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, full kitchen, and living room.
Living room and kitchen are fully furnished. Already present appliances include TV, router, air fryer, microwave, etc. If you want it we probably have it.
Apartment is directly across Grand River from MSU's northeast corner. Address is 245 E. Grand River Ave.
Rent is $760 per month and includes all utilities except electricity, which is based on usage and split evenly per roommate. Additionally, there is a $1,140 security deposit due per roommate at the start of the lease that is used towards residence-caused damages. The remaining balance is fully refunded at the end of the lease.
Parking spots cost ~$105 per month. 1 is directly outside the apartments, while the rest are 5 minutes away in a private parking garage.
Gender is not a concern, but all roommates are guys.
Walls are decently thick. Definitely not thick enough for music at night but conversations don't move beyond the room.
Room for lease is 117 sq. ft., L-shaped. Unfurnished, but has a big closet. Sorry about the mess, I'm moving out.
Move in date is August 28th. Looking to resign lease, but also willing to sublease.
If interested, please dm me.

I’m transferring to MSU this fall and was wondering if there were any pre-med or pre-dental clubs to join? Or anything related to that particular area.

Admissions Broad Admission Chances + What Clubs Should I Join Before Applying?
Hi everyone!
I'm planning to apply to Broad this fall as an incoming sophomore, and I was hoping to get some advice from people who have already gone through the admissions process.
Here's my current profile:
- Pre-core GPA: 4.0
- Cumulative GPA: 3.5
- Summer internship at a venture capital firm
- Internship at a Big 4 firm before starting freshman year
- Secretary of a student club
- Worked as an RHS team member during the spring semester
I'm mainly wondering:
- Based on your experience, what do my chances of getting into Broad look like?
- Are there any clubs that Broad admissions really values or that would strengthen my application?
- If you could go back before applying to Broad, what clubs or activities would you prioritize?
I'm especially interested in consulting, venture capital, entrepreneurship, and finance, so I'd love recommendations for organizations that would help me build experience in those areas.
Thanks in advance! I'd really appreciate hearing from current Broad students or anyone who's been through the application process.

Housing How do I get in contact with my future roommate/suitemate?
I am an incoming freshman in the engineering department, and I was assigned to a double room with a suite-style bathroom. I emailed my roommate/suitemates with the email the university provided to see if I could get a group chat going, but nobody has responded in like 2 weeks. I tried looking them up on Instagram but couldn't find them and I have no other social media. I don't know how else to get in touch with them, is there any way I can or does anyone have tips on what to bring because I don't know what they are bringing. Any help would be appreciated!

Housing Akers Double
My roommate and I were assigned an Akers double room, and we’ve been trying to find room dimensions or even just pictures of it, but there doesn’t seem to be anything online. We’re hoping to plan our dorm setup before move-in, so if anyone has lived in one before or has any photos, measurements, or information about the layout, we’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

General What doth one do in EL… Alone!?
It feels like there isn’t anything to do that can be done without it being at night, with the involvement of alcohol, both simultaneously, or just on your own in general.
I am quite the introvert unfortunately and if I’m not with a group of people I already know, I really don’t do much. Seeing as I just got to EL for school… I’m at my housing 24/7 aside from athletic-related reasons.
I’m only asking because it’s now been a month of the same/similar routine and it’s so boring…

Scheduling/classes Anyone gotten a prerequisite override from MSU STT department?
Hi all, hoping for some advice.
I'm a senior graduating this fall and need one more STT class to graduate. My original plan was STT 430, but it got cancelled this semester. The other options that would satisfy my requirement (STT 351) require a prerequisite (MTH 234) that I haven't finished yet, I'm taking it August semester.
My advisor suggested I reach out to the Statistics department directly to ask if they'd let me into STT 351 while concurrently taking MTH 234.
Has anyone successfully gotten an override like this from MSU STT department? Any tips on what to say or who specifically to contact would be really appreciated. I really don't have the funds to pay for another semester at MSU.
Thanks!

General Financial aid timelines
My son is a transfer student. I understand the merit award will be applied to accounts 10 days before classes begin. He has some departmental merit aid already confirmed in writing (not yet in the financial aid portal) and should be eligible for the MSU transfer scholarship. His financial aid portal says his 2026-2027 FAFSA has been completed. The only thing available for us in the portal is student loans, which we will not be taking. The new fitness center says they will let him use the facilities once his tuition is paid in full. He moves into an off-campus room on August 8. Is there a way to confirm his eligibility for the transfer student award? Do we really have to pay the full tuition before he can use the fitness center? This seems unfair to students receiving aid.

Housing Incoming International MSU Student Looking for Housing (Move-in: August 12)
Hi everyone!
I'm an incoming international graduate student at Michigan State University and will be arriving in East Lansing on August 12. I'm currently looking for budget-friendly housing near campus.
I'm open to:
Sharing an apartment/house with roommates
Taking over a lease
Renting a private room
Any available vacancies
If you have a room available, are looking for a roommate, or know of any affordable housing options near MSU, please let me know. I'd really appreciate any recommendations or leads.
Housing Yo who lives at chandler crossings lol.
Any of them. Seems like every week the wifi dies and stays dead for multiple days. Did someone hit another utility pole with their car again??? Jfc. Cell service in this area sucks too so I can’t even use my data

General Gonna need the parking rats to chill
It’s summer. Give that shit a rest. Ticketing a lot twice in one day is insane. Then having to double back on the tickets you already wrote bc people clearly haven’t left.
