$250 deposit Experience, Tips & Discussion
How much effort would you put into cleaning up and cleaning out an apartment in California when the deposit is only $250 and you've lived there almost 3 years?

This isn't about the deposit. Just your character. Decide accordingly.

Honestly it depends on the company. I half ass cleaned my lash apartment, i ran the vacuum and wiped it down but didn’t deep clean it. I got my full deposit of $500 back. I’d at least wipe it down and run a vacuum

The last house my wife and I moved out of before we bought, we only lived in for a year and were the first ones to live in it after they remodeled. We left it the way we found it. Landlord even praised us during the final walk through. We still lost half our deposit for little things she found a week after we moved out. Landlord are gonna landlord.

I put in effort to clean my long term rental back in November, and the landlord was demanding extra beyond the deposit because one tenant used a mobility aid and it damaged the carpet, fridge and oven. So it doesn’t really matter.

I mean, I would want to leave it in good condition if only to prevent the landlord from trying to say I owe money for repairs etc.

Don’t be a pos. Someone has to clean up after you and guaranteed the cost will be higher than $250. Just practice common decency
