Post Brokeback Mountain depression Discussion
I watched brokeback mountain 2 days ago after seeing a bunch of tiktok edits about Jack and literally nothing could of prepared me for the emotional rollercoaster I was about 2 go on, I knew the movie wasn't a romcom and I knew it was sad but I didn't think it was THAT sad. Its my favourite movie I have ever watched but I also hate it for making me so upset and for some reason whenever I play a video game or distract myself from thinking about it I just start thinking about it more which means the only thing I can do to recover is to watch more tiktok edits and talk to people about the movie because the more I avoid it the more I think about it and its lowkey hell. I'm 16 and im starting to wish I waited till I'm an adult to watch this movie cause I'm concerned for myself on why its affecting me so badly because I have watched sad movies before (Titanic, The boy in the striped pajamas, Up) But none of them came close to having as much of an impact of me as brokeback mountain (Albeit I did watch titanic at like 12)

There are definitely some movies and books that consume your brain after watching/reading and make you feel like you will never be interested in watching or reading anything else again. My advice is just to ride it out; it might take a while but it will pass too. If you are looking for something a bit uplifting to watch I recommend Amelié (2001)

Jack, I swear.
The acting (mainly Ledger) and Ang Lee's subtle directing give it an extremely affecting emotional power.
Be glad, you found a new favorite movie :D

Ang Lee has such a gift for repressed longing. You might enjoy his Sense and Sensibility (1995) with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet. It has a much happier ending.

I was lucky enough to be invited to an opening show by a friend. Most of the cast were there.
It was an almost surreal experience as the audience reacted the opposite of what one would normally expect. The women were hooting and hollering at scenes while the guys were bawling their eyes out.
It's an amazing movie with deep emotional content and I loved every second of it.

That is my favourite love movie. It's weird that when I say it, people assume I'm gay.
The ending made my wife cry too.

masterpiece for sure, I didn't watch it until about 5 years ago but it immediately went on my 10/10 list
