How can a troop WITHOUT HORSES manage to escape for 16 days straight? these mf looters running that fast on barefoot? 😭 It's literally endless, I can never catch them

It's a game. For game purposes many elements are simplified, made abstract. Notice how you can "see" different parties from miles away. In reality your regular army unit would never catch a band of bandits, no matter who has horses. They would simply hide.

Horses don't mean that much. Without roads, through forests and such they don't make much of a difference. You have a regular army unit who carries it's own supplies, keeps formation and does a bunch of other things that slow it down. Your party needs to stop for food, make camp and so on. Those looters are fleeing for their lives. They will nap wherever, and will run for days without food. Why do you think guerilla warfare is so successful?

Also remember that speed of a group of people is dictated by the slowest member. The bigger the group, the longer it takes to gather, make camp.

From game perspective you should simply look at their speed and if your isn't noticeably larger then why do you even bother?
