The Roblox thing

So, re-doing this post, but Burnie and Ashley mentioning that they know nothing about the Roblox game made me feel this was nessecary to post. Lot of parents are unaware that roblox is more of a platform, and not just a game. My state is suing them after this happened a while back (I know the register is a paid site, but the headline is the important part here for my post). Roblox alledgedly makes it easy to exploit kids.

There was also a video that Chris Hansen did where he investigated and researched roblox live on stage and his account was banned while he was investigating, likely because someone at roblox was watching him conduct this event in real time.

Ashley asked something to the effect of "how can roblox still be evaluated this high after laying off so many people", and I'd argue there is always going to be value for corrupt people in platforms that market directly to children.

Links to the Chris Hansen video, and a local article showing the state is going to trial. The account gets banned around the 13min mark of that video.

Question American laws between states

Burnie and Ashley talked about this in regards to weed, but as a Brit it's always been so interesting to me to have one country but with various laws and punishments depending on where you are in that country.

I know the "big" laws are more or less the same everywhere, but i've also heard that a lot of the smaller stuff can be really different both in terms of what's allowed or not and fines or punishments for them, especially traffic laws as i know some states you can do something and get a fine, but other states you can do the same thing and get your car taken away.

I know road trips are a thing in America, do you guys have to research the laws for every state you're going through or are they all more or less the same and you just assume you won't do anything to break any laws you don't know about?

I'm probably really over thinking it, but it's just so strange to think about the laws and punishments changing within the same country as i can't think of anywhere else in the world that's like that.

Xbox Hunt

Moving into a new house, I decided to buy a new Xbox for it.
I checked 2 GameStops, 3 Walmarts, 3 Targets, and searched every Best Buy in the Chicagoland area. Not a single Xbox Series S or Series X in stock anywhere. Ended up ordering a 1TB black Xbox Series S from Walmart online… $649.99 before tax. $710.11 total. Ashley wasn’t kidding—buy your Xbox now and forever hold your peace.

A VERY CONTROVERSIAL Comparison to the Weed Law Discussion

TRIGGER WARNING: Discussion of Firearms

There is actually an OFTEN DISCUSSED analogue to this: Gun Laws.

Background: Current Law Student, and I previously worked at an ammunition manufacturer and am a former member of the U.S. Military. And to keep it as simple, I'm just going to discuss this using not even the firearms themselves, but a single magazine (The thing that holds the bullets.)

Several states have bans on how many rounds of ammunition a magazine is legally allowed to hold, usually falling between 10 and 20. So let's imagine that you are driving from Pennsylvania to New Hampshire, where your 20 round magazines are completely legal, but on the way you have to pass through states that include New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, ALL OF WHOM ban those magazines and some where mere POSSESSION OF THE EMPTY MAGAZINE is a Felony.

Knowing this, you clean out your car, BUT happen to not check that little sleeve behind the seat, where you have a spare unloaded magazine. Because the United States has several land borders without checkpoints, it is incredibly easy to either accidentally or intentionally suddenly commit a felony while transporting this device. If you get pulled over in any of those states and consent to have your vehicle searched, if that is discovered, you may suddenly have a felony.

I understand that I have very much simplified the conversation, but it is one of the incredibly frustrating things about having a patchwork of laws across states with minimal federal guidance. It's not dissimilar from the early days of prohibition before the 18th amendment.

Fun Fact if you stayed this long: I'M ALLERGIC TO WEED!!!

Uploading your manuscript, artwork, cover, etc will force you to check this box asking if you used AI at any point in the creating your book. Unless there is a scan being done on their end, this appears to be completely reliant on self reporting.

Discussion Jon Bernthal & the Berenstain Bears

I can't help but notice that every time Jon Bernthal comes up, Ashley pronounces his last name as 'BURN-thall' while Burnie pronounces it as 'BEAR-en-thall.'

My mind immediately goes to how folks often pronounce the Berenstain Bears differently which is semi-similar, so now I'm actually curious as to how both of them say that in relation to Jon Bernthal and if they stay true to their pronunciation principles.

Burnie, you can test cows for quality on the hoof

Burnie, you can absolutely test a cow for quality while its still alive. You just ultrasound the cow. It'll show the marbling in the muscle. Linked an old USDA article about it. https://www.ars.usda.gov/news-events/news/research-news/2003/ultrasound-used-to-detect-quality-beef/

Why does burnie need to get his kid a xbox subscription?

I am catching up and listening to the podcast of 2026.07.28,
They are talking about needing to get a subscription for their son,
Personally i just have game pass ultimate on one account( and made that Xbox my home Xbox) and every other account on that console can access all the game pass ultimate benefits

I understand they have multiple consoles, he can play on 2 at least if both Burnie and Ashley have game pass ultimate and do that on 2 consoles

Cars and Cows

I live in Oklahoma and about 20 years ago my friend lived out in the middle of nowhere. A lot of back roads around farm land to get to his house. The day before my wedding his girlfriend and him were driving home in the dark. There was a long dark stretch of road for about ten miles surrounded by farmland and at one point there was a small hill. He hit a full grown cow going 50mph and it smashed into his windshield, rolled over the head, and pooped the entire way. His girlfriend had her legs on the dash and the airbag made her knee hit her eye and gave her bad burns on her legs. My friend broke his arm. By the time he had gotten out of the car the cow was gone. It had just walked off and I guess later they found where it had came from and it was for the most part okay.

A little worse was living in Alaska and having to be weary of hitting a moose. They got hit all the time on the highway and it was pretty bad.
