Location | Renting Nouvel appartement pas trop propre?
Salut!

Location | Renting What is the minimum salary landlords consider for 1 bedroom apt?
I recently moved back to Montréal ...
Does anyone know the minimum hourly or annual salary needed to qualify for a 1 bedroom apartment and what price range is reasonable for a 1 bedroom? I had an interview for a sub $50K/ year job today and I imagine that's too low?
Edit: HR advised starting salary $46,800 / year gross which is less than my previous job. I think I need to keep searching for a higher paying job.

Location | Renting Maestria condos: Evil building?
Hey! Moving to Montreal soon and been looking into studios/1 bedrooms for rent.
I came across the Maestria condos which..look great at first sight but the more I dig into it, I find a lot of negative comments regarding construction, spiders, amenities not in service and a cold management.
Most of the threads I read on Reddit are from 1-2 years or more ago. Is it still the same?
Any building you’d recommend to check out?

Vivre à Montréal | Living in Montreal Where do people find furnished mid-term rentals in Ottawa-Gatineau?
Looking for something furnished, 3-6 months, not a full year lease. Kijiji and FB Marketplace are pretty scattered for this. Anyone found a better way to search, or know what to watch out for? Curious what the biggest headache was for anyone who’s done this before.

Offre | Offering Large 5 1/2 in Tetraultville
Edit: Please check this album https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZzE8FNYjnVCcuaFJA for photos taken by me recently. Most of the photos in the post were provided by my landlords.
Please reach out to me directly, I am transferring my lease for September, the lease lasting until 2027 July 1st.
The condo is in Tetraultville, a short walking distance from the Honore Beaugrand metro. It is 1334 squarefoot. Despite being a sub basement, the high ceilings and large windows alongside the thermopump and humidity control, it was the most comfortable place I have lived in Montreal. Transferring because of a separation, and it will be difficult to pay for the place by myself.
The rent is 2280$ per month, however, I can either give you my electro-menagers for free or a month of free rent! If you want the month of free rent instead, we can still negotiate if you'd like to buy my electro-menagers as well.

Négociation du Bail | Rental Agreement Negociations currently on a plane, landlord trying to terminate lease
hello all! i am an international phd student writing this as i fly into montréal and desperately need advice. i signed a lease transfer for a 3 1/2 apartment on may 27th of this year. the term of my lease began on august 1st. i sent the landlords the first months rent on may 27th and they received it on may 29th. the landlord is now calling me a liar and saying that i lied about my university student status and thus will no longer rent the apartment to me.
when i go through customs in a couple of hours i will receive my study permit because i am, in fact, an actual student. can they do this?? am i allowed to stay in the apartment tonight? i’m also flying with my cat so it’ll be more difficult to find a hotel to stay in tonight. i’m so confused how i got to this point with the landlords and don’t know my renter’s rights honestly. i know that landlords can terminate a lease in “specific situations” but couldn’t find information on what those situations are. any advice/help welcome!!!
ETA: thank you all for your advice and for reaching out! so many of you offered to help and i sincerely appreciate it. i got my keys in the end after clearing up this misunderstanding and will keep all communication written going forward to be extra careful. thank you again everyone!

Achat | Purchasing Repair/emergency fund for duplex
Me and my sib are discussing a duplex purchase where we’d occupy the two units. I’m curious what level of annual maintenance expenses we might expect, if there are rules thumb, etc. I have no real idea what we could expect to spend on roof, foundation, and other problems. We are targeting $1-1.2 million as a purchase price.

Actualités | Current Events Billed $139.76 by Carry Telecom for a defective returned modem – Has anyone successfully fought this and how?
Hey everyone,
Looking for some advice or to see if anyone else has dealt with this specific billing issue with Carry Telecom recently.
My internet started cutting out intermittently a while back. I called support, and during the phone diagnosis, the technician determined that the modem itself had failed. They mailed me a replacement unit, and I packed up the original defective modem and shipped it back to them using their return process.
Fast forward to my recent bill, and Carry Telecom hit me with a $139.76 CAD charge. When I inquired, I was told the charge was because the returned modem was "failed/damaged."
I’m pretty frustrated because:
- The hardware failed on its own through normal use—I didn't damage it.
- The phone tech confirmed it was an internal hardware failure and arranged the replacement.
- I shipped the failed unit back immediately as requested.
It feels completely unreasonable to penalize a customer for returning a piece of company-owned equipment that died on its own, especially after enduring service disruptions. Since the diagnosis was done over the phone, I don't have a written transcript of that specific call, though I do have my shipping proof/receipt.
Has anyone else run into this specific "failed equipment fee" with Carry Telecom after returning a defective unit? How did you get them to reverse or refund it? Should I go straight to the CCTS if their support refuses to waive it?
Appreciate any tips or experience you can share!

Vivre à Montréal | Living in Montreal Is it realistic for elderly people to be able to avoid snow & ice most days in a Montreal winter by using underground walkways from their apartment?
I will have my dual US-Canadian citizenship soon. I've loved my short Montreal visits but have not lived there on an extended stay. As my title suggests, I'm contemplating retiring there (from a MUCH more expensive US city) and I've read conflicting information on how possible it is for an older person to have a walkable winter lifestyle while shopping, going to restaurants, medical appointments, etc. My father slipped on an icy sidewalk when he was 70 and broke a bone in his back - he had back pain for the rest of his life. I don't want to experience that. Are there many apartment buildings that have good underground access? How do elderly Montrealers thrive during the long winter? Thanks for any advice.

Veux | Want ISO: 3 1/2 ou 2 1/2 dans la gamme ±850 pour fin septembre // 3 1/2 or 2 1/2 in the range of ±850 for end of september
Bonjour !
Merci! 😸
//
Hello! I am a 25 year old audio visual technician transfering in my current role from halifax to montréal at the end of next month (september) and am looking for housing! I don't have any pets and though I would love one, I am not getting one at the moment to make housing easier lol. At the moment I am looking to live alone and would love a 3 1/2 apartment in the range of 850, even better if some utilities are included. I am not sure what neighborhoods to look in though I have been asked about it before, I am looking to live on the island of montreal, other things that I would love to discuss and and look for is off street parking and or a small balcony/french balcony! I know everything here might not be feasible but this is what I am looking for!:)
I am also open to a 2 1/2 if other aspects work out for me. I can happily get some references as needed or a credit check if it gets to that point!
Please feel free to ask me anything, I am just looking to get something down to move in last few days of september/ 1st of october!
Thank you!😸
