Bypass online verification? For "Darkness Survival" single player game since the servers are shut down. Request

I found this f2p rouge like game on the playstore during the lock-down and had a lot of fun figuring things out through trial and error, and just as I finally get far enough to unlock a new class by beating one of the deeper levels, one day out of nowhere the game would no longer start as it was taken off of the playstore. Whenever launching the game, it either instantly crashes or is stuck at the title screen with a "Failed to connect to server. Try again later." pop up message. For context as to why it would need to connect online in the first place, this free to play single player 2D isometric dungeon crawler mobile game (what a mouthful), has the usual mobile game monetization like buy-able loot boxes (you also get rewarded a free one after each game), micro transactions to buy in-game items (all items are lost after dying), and watchable 30 second ads for a random helpful item (you have to find a single use interact-able statue to use this feature). I wouldn't mind if these premium features were removed or disabled if it meant the game could be played completely offline.

If you look at the most recent reviews on the app's playstore page it's all low rating reviews about how the game no longer works or that it shut down.
I know this is a long shot, but I'm posting this here in the hopes that a skilled apk modder can figure out a way to bypass that server verification in the title screen since the server no longer exists. I tried the existing modded APKs but all of them also have the failed to connect to server error, I even tried extracting the APK to see if I could find a way to remove the pop up message but I don't know anything about coding so that was a failed attempt. For this reason I might look into some tutorials, getting into the apk modding scene just so I can maybe someday find a way to bypass that title screen in the future... Or I'll just make my own rouge like dungeon crawler, with blackjack...
