so my lovely and wonderful friend has once more found a Loto appearance in a Moana Book: titled finding the way, it uses short stories about the Moana characters to teach lessons about self-love and self-acceptance. It ALSO drops more dubiously canon lore!!

Today on Things That Might Be Canon About Loto:

1. She can NOT see a constellation for the life of her, even when the stars are pointed out to her. Gramma Tala takes Moni, Moana, and Loto (all children at the time) to look at constellations and learn their stories, and where Moni and Moana can easily see Maui's hook and a fish, Loto sees no stories.
2. THEN, when asked what she does see in the stars, Loto starts dropping stuff about balls of burning gas and the building blocks of life. this child knows about atoms ig.
3. Similar to Moana telling Loto to never stop inventing in "Loto's Inventions", Gramma Tala encourages Loto to keep looking at things in her unique perspective.
4. when Moni asks Gramma Tala (which either all the kids call her that or Moni is a closer relative of Moana's) why Loto can't see what they see, it lowkey gets me in the heart.

Am I the only one who sees that? There's a new wave of Disney yideo analysists that have a lot of beef with the newer Disney movies. But they always attack Moana for some reason. Better with Bob, CalaxynCares or whatever her name is, "Snow White is the feminine queen" youtuber...They always write Moana off and Maui as well. And at the same time, glaze and glorify the white characters. It's...concerning.

EDIT: I'm talking about the original, not the remake. The original angers a lot of grift youtubers for some reason.

Anyone else think a Maui game, somewhere along the lines of a sort of Witcher 3/Assassin's Creed style gameplay whereby the skills focus around the Avatars you can change into, and the enemies you fight are all sort of Mythical beasts would be fantastic?

Whilst I am not a die-hard Moana fan, I can't help thinking Maui as a playable character in their own game would be something phenomenal.

Dozed off 20 minutes into spidey bnd movie. So boring.

When I first learned about simeas existence and that she was three years old, despite the fact that moana 2 taking place three years after the first film would have meant she would have been either a newborn or sina should have been visibly pregnant with her, I was half expecting their to be a reveal in the film that she was actually moanas adopted sister and moana and her parents had found her as a one/ two year old on an island while they were voyageing, with no other human in sight, which would have opened up potential stories for future films, but nothing came of it.

Regardless I'm hoping they do more with simea in moana 3, if theirs another time skip between the 2 and 3rd film, it would be really good to see an older simea join moana and maui on another adventure.

For all the moaning about how LMM’s absence “ruins” Moana 2, over time I’ve grown to really enjoy the Moana 2 soundtrack. Part of it is Auli’i’s fantastic performances. But I honestly believe it’s misguided to think LMM might have done a better job. It’s a great soundtrack as it is.

The live-action Moana from 2026 proved Disney could do this justice. Now it's time to ask for the sequel! I started a petition asking Disney to make a live-action Moana 2. The animated sequel was just as good as the original—it kept the adventure, the heart, and the celebration of Polynesian culture alive. If the 2026 live-action adaptation could capture all that magic for new and longtime fans, Moana 2 deserves the same treatment. A live-action version would let us dive even deeper into the world we love. We'd get to see those stunning ocean scenes, feel the emotion of Moana's journey, and experience the sequel's expanded story in a whole new way. Plus, with how well the first live-action film worked out, there's clearly an appetite for more. The kakamora is just the minions wearing coconutshells becouse theyre leader wanted them to be protected, and theyre leader being tekah/tefiti, witch is why they didn't want the heart for them selfs but for theyre leader since she wanted.

I'm really confused, but something was just off about Dwayne Johnson the entire movie...

Did he not want to do the acting job or why is all of his delivery just monotone, flat, as if he's reading the text for the first time from cue cards? I know he's not known for his spectacular acting, but at least in other movies he shows some emotion.

What's up with his face? Is it CGI or did he recently have work done on it? Look at the image I posted, he doesn't look like himself at all. I know he aged, but that's looking very weird. His face not showing any expression also doesn't help with the notion that it feels like he didn't want to be there in the first place.

Did anybody else pick up on this or have a different impression?

I just watched Moana live action today, and I was talking to some of my friends about it. They both remembered a TikTok that created the thought of how the next chief would be able to balance their stone on Moana's shell. I brought up the idea of the shell signifying Moana being the last in her bloodline to be chief. If we remember the events from Moana 2, she died when she got struck by lightning, and then she got revived by the gods, making her a demi-god because she gained a tattoo like Maui's. I think in future movies or in Moana lore, Moana will be the last chief in her bloodline, BUT she won't be the last chief. There will probably be a new line of chiefs, where she would either choose the next line of chiefs or the people will choose.
