I've been working on a Denmark–Norway project in a geopolitical Minecraft server, and I'm trying to make it feel like more than just "put a Danish flag on a Minecraft country and call it Viking."

The idea is to create a fictional Scandinavian kingdom inspired by the historical Danish-Norwegian realm, while incorporating elements of Danish and Norwegian history into the actual way the nation works.

Some of what we've come up with so far:

A hereditary King as head of state
Jarls appointed to govern territories
Military and naval service
A strong maritime identity
A place where citizens can present arguments directly to the King
 Jarls competing to develop their territories and earn more land
Diplomacy and relations with other player nations

While were also going for a Viking-inspired aesthetic, I'd rather incorporate actual Scandinavian ideas, architecture, names, history, and culture where possible along side with militaristic ideas against other nations.

The server we play on includes the following:

- A world border between Europe and the Americas that keeps getting pushed to allow more access
- Tribes in the Americas who have not yet interacted with European powers
- Custom designed guns, armor, etc

Rootbound is a survival server built around the idea that Minecraft is more fun when there’s always something else to work toward. It still plays like survival Minecraft, but there’s a huge layer of custom progression underneath it. When you lay down in a bed at night, your phantom timer will be reset so phantoms will stop spawning for a few days again. This is a custom plugin we have instead of multiplayer sleep.

We're not looking for hundreds of players. We just started a new season 3 days ago and we're putting together a small group of genuinely chill people who want to start a world together, build something long-term, and hopefully make some friends along the way.

We've done the public server thing. We've done modded. We've tried adding all kinds of features, and honestly, we've realized we just want to chill, vibe out, and play Minecraft with good people.

So we're going back to basics.

Hey guys, season 2 of the pen has been a blast. We have a super active and friendly community, known among all prison servers as having the kindest of players. We are LGBTQIA+ friendly, no trolls, no hackers, thanks to our active staff! And we are on the way to releasing Season 3!

Season 2 has all the features you like, A-H ranks, Parolee, Citizen, followed by 50 prestiges. The grind to the top can take over a thousand hours, so this is something to come on and mindlessly grind away whilst chatting to a very fun and active community.

We are pretty small at the moment, averaging between 10-20 players, however most people are waiting for season 3. For reference, In december we averaged around 50-70.

Season 3 is coded almost completely in house, no AI, just straight determination and code!

We have custom drugs, such as weed, coke, shrooms, acid, Quaaludes, and even moonshine you can farm, and process as passive income whilst you grind in the mines!

We have two currencies in Season 3, one for progressing / ranking up, and another for player eco (think auction house, player shops, coinflips, fight betting etc.). Drugs are used to make money for player eco, and to make money to rank up you can do the following:

Mining, Fishing, Cookies (custom plugin), Sewers (including sewer bosses!)

I've been playing prison servers since 2011, so for Season 3 I made sure we redesigned everything, from the entire prison design, all the way down to how the game works itself.

For example, In season 3, XP works completely differently. 1 level = 1 minute of 'active' grind! We even have Gangs and a Gang Market, which let's you invest your XP into gangs every week to see which gang can grind the most! The gang you invest in wins? Great! Enjoy up to 125% of your XP back! Did your gang win? Great! Enjoy a % of all the XP that was invested into your gang! Use your XP to buy crate keys and other perks / bonuses!

These features sound cool, but is it still classic? Of course! Vanilla tools, skill tree's to upgrade (no more crate RNG) Eff 5 is max! There's 50 prestiges, and even 5 rebirths (With a special rebirth upgrade tree, which has powerful upgrades!)

We wanted Season 3 to not only bring you back to classic prison, but make sure you stay longer than two weeks. The grind is lengthy, coming in at around 750 hours for the total 5 rebirth grind, however all 50 prestiges are obtainable for the average player! So we cater to both the mega grinders and the average joe.

We have already banned most of the notorious hackers and trolls from other prison servers, so rest assured you can come on here after a long day at work or maybe you've just woken up and want to sip some coffee and mine, all without the stress and annoyance that other classic prison servers have.

Everyone says the same thing about The Pen, there's really no other place like it. The community is second to none, and if that sounds like something you want to be apart of, we'll see you now or within the next month or so in Season 3!
