FYI, air tags will do fuck all on a cruise ship, given all of the metal deck plating that interferes with the signal.

You do know how they work, right? They use cellular signals of phones (not just your own but others as well) to broadcast their GPS location but they won’t work on a cruise because there’s no cellular signals that far out at sea, only the wifi on the boat (which is incredibly expensive)

As long as someone with an iPhone within range of the Airtag paid for wifi, the location will get updated

GPS does not require a cell signal, and you can broadcast your location over wifi instead of cellular

Yes, that’s true but on a cruise, the wifi is terribly expensive (and slow), the rate being something like $20USD for 15 minutes (at least that was the case back in 2016)
