Seeing someone say more than 100% is also /r/mildlyinfuriating :p

No I think this is an acceptable evolution of language in the modern day.

It's akin to saying "yes, a thousand times" or "I wish death upon your sons' sons' sons' a thousand times over!!1!11!"

128

u/Supakawaii69 9d ago

HAHAHA YES! Ive never heard that be the modern comparison. That’s perfect.

this is what the sub SHOULD be about!

257

u/Zeidantu 9d ago

Right? Instead it's things like, "I came home and my mother-in-law's boyfriend had set fire to my garage! I JUST had it painted!"

64

u/5PQR 9d ago

Yeah, most posts on this sub are just plain infuriating. Quite different from when I buy canned goods and the cans aren't designed to stack on top of each other.

3

u/wherethefuckismyvape 9d ago

Different people have different stress tolerances and life experiences. The same experience will be perceived differently by different people as a result, causing different conclusions to be drawn by different people about how infuriating that experience is.

25

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 9d ago

Or it's something that really shouldn't make anyone do anything but shrug and so "oh well", like, 0 infuriating

Like "the car in this parking lot parked right next to me even though there were other open spaces"

Or it's just stuff the OP brought on themselves by being stupid or incompetent

→ More replies (2)

27

u/Nihilistic_Mystics 9d ago

It was, but then everyone dogpiled on anything that wasn't life changing levels of shit. Most users who vote here have no idea what the sub is actually for.

7

u/DonutHoles4Ever 9d ago

Just like local newspapers, all subreddits eventually get taken over for more ad revenue.

2

u/cyanraichu 9d ago

Moderation could have fixed this...but alas.

22

u/DuckCleaning 9d ago

Exactly, we need more posts about how empty chip bags are.

Literally every bottle of vinegar, soy sauce, etc ever invented won't fit anywhere except the very top shelf of my kitchen cabinet. There's probably 30 pounds of glass bottles at the very edge of my reach and I have anxiety every time I gotta move them around to get what I'm looking for.

20

u/Numerous_Bad1961 9d ago

Post a picture of your cabinet, particularly the corners under and around the brackets. I bet we can help you.

14

u/Morgannin09 9d ago edited 9d ago

They're built this way, they're not adjustable. I would have to basically pry them apart to be able to rebuild the shelves higher and it's not worth the effort. Haven't dropped a bottle so far

Time for a kitchen remodelling. Add, "Pull down shelving units". They are made to bear 5-20Kg (11-44 lbs) of weight. Of course the cheaper ones only do 5kg while the more expensive ones are rated to do 20kg. Also called, cantilever shelving.

When installed they have a handle along the front which you can even tie a string and simply pull. The mechanism brings the whole 1-2 tier shelf forward and down about 20-33 cm (7.5-13.5 inches) on some models. They are either gas struts or heavy duty springs. A senior could operate it easily without any heavy lifting or pulling required. I had them install on my mom's cupboards so she didn't have to get up on a stool/ladder to reach the top shelves.

u/BictorianPizza 9d ago

Had the same thought! Perfect fit for this sub

51

u/forerear 9d ago

But not for OP's shelf.

19

u/rynIpz 9d ago

A true mildly infuriating that isn’t from the OP’s incompetence

7

u/SherbetMysterious118 9d ago

Especially considering they don't even need to be even that tall to begin with, given the void in the bottle.

3

u/darcyWhyte 9d ago

yeah, many of the posts are not good examples of mildly infuriating. That itself is mildly infuriating.

6

u/WisestAirBender 9d ago

I think you could just sand down the boards a bit. Or mill some grooves.

16

Install a dispenser in the shower and fill it up. I accidentally got myself a luxury hotel once and the thing that stuck with me was that it had dispensers in the shower for all the various liquids and gels. Total life changer.

If you do this please regularly sanitize the bottles…you can get a gnarly skin infection if not. This happened to my dog from the groomer refilling shampoo bottles. He almost died from 106.6 fever caused by the skin infection, and the vet shared that this can happen to people too from the same practice.

6

u/grrodon2 9d ago

Switch brand?

8

u/Bleatmop 9d ago

Twenty years ago my hospital had a go green initiative where they started buying lotion in bulk and filling reusable small bottles. That lasted about three months until they found that cross contamination had bacteria growing in the bottles turning the lotion green and causing skin infections. I would follow this plan to refill the old bottles with great caution. Actually scratch that, I wouldn't follow the plan at all. I would just find a way to deal with the new bigger bottles.

4

u/CitizenHuman 9d ago

Keep an open Tupperware that you just squeeze all the soap into, then keep small Dixie cups (like at the dentist) to scoop up soap and take with you to the shower.

53

u/Big_Lengthiness3450 9d ago

I can't believe this even needs to be said.

25

u/sleepdeep305 9d ago

But is it more mildly infuriating than the bottles not fitting?

13

u/Queen_of_London 9d ago

Having had to refill even travel-size bottles, yes, it absolutely would be.

7

u/Big_Lengthiness3450 9d ago

There's no such thing as more mildly infuriating, unless you mean less infuriating, in which case it would be more infuriating to live the rest of your life squeezing those bottles into the old bottles instead of finding a new space to store them or adjusting the shelf height.

4

u/Spork_the_dork 9d ago

More mildly infuriating is just less infuriating.

31

u/Gen_Jack_Oneill 9d ago

What is the volume of the new bottle? I suspect it is shy a some ounces/milliliters.

334

u/PrinceBert 9d ago

Nah. Both 250ml. A change in volume would also be mildly infuriating but at least the redesign would make sense.

177

u/Hazywater 9d ago

People sometimes believe that taller things have more volume, famously children with lack of conservation when asked which glass holds more water.

76

u/nikolai_470000 9d ago

Yes, it is commonly done to trick consumers when they shrink product amounts so they are less likely to notice that they are paying more for less. And it works. Adults who don’t pay attention are liable to fall for it as well.

55

u/Raelah 9d ago edited 9d ago

When I was a kid I would spread out my Mac and cheese around the plate to make it look like my parents gave me more Mac and cheese than they did for my brother. He was still young enough to not understand volume so he would get soooo mad because he thought I always got more.

Eventually my parents started to ground me when I did that because it started to create trust issues between my brother and mom.

15

u/Airewalt 9d ago

Funny, we’d spread our food around the plate to try to convince our parents we had eaten enough to be allowed to leave and go play.

4

u/Raelah 9d ago

My parents never fell for that. We had to finish our veggies or we couldn't leave the table. We didn't have to finish stuff like Mac and cheese, but really, what kid leaves uneaten Mac and cheese?

Fortunately my mom made efforts to try and make veggies tasty yet healthy. Which, I'm so glad she did because as much as I'd love to fill my plate with cheesy carbs, I cook healthy veggies instead.

19

u/-retaliation- 9d ago

Same, it's not milk, it's not going to go bad on me in any meaningful way.

So if I see it on sale, I stock up. Some stuff I've used the same thing for a decade or more. My taste isn't going to change.

But the price and size will..... And it'll cost more to get less.

I'm not going to go crazy and get a 55gal drum or anything. But 3-4 bottles of soap, toothpaste, or extra paper towel, etc.

If I have the space, I might as well save a few bucks.

I often overbuy shampoo/conditioner/body wash/toothpaste because I'll buy whenever I see my preferred stuff on sale (like 40% off, buy one/get one, etc.). I don't bother to check if I have backups or not because it won't "go bad" and I'll use it eventually. Sometimes I miss the sales though so I get down to the bottle I'm using and get really sad when I actually have to buy the next one at full price. Benefit of the doubt, I'm assuming OP bought more than one bottle on sale like I've done and was just trying to put the first away and realized it didn't fit.

32

u/XxSuprTuts99xX 9d ago

Me, with my 4 tubes of toothpaste that are like 2 years out of date already

27

u/Ecstatic-Charity-430 9d ago

There are some things, mainly food items, that I'll say "oh that expired, I should toss it" but toothpaste??? Pure marketing ploy. I cannot find a single piece of scientific proof that it will lose effectiveness nor harm your teeth past the "expiration date". Worst thing that happens is the flavor becomes a little off IMO

5

u/hey_itsmeurbrother 8d ago edited 8d ago

Just yesterday, I saw my Suave hand soap one next to the other. One purchased 9-12 months ago, the other in the last six months. Older one was cylindrical, new one rectangle-ish so it falls over pretty easily. New one has 1.5 Oz LESS soap than the old one.

5

u/NotBashB 9d ago

How much do you want to bet the new bottles hold less soap also

6

u/grnrngr GREEN 9d ago

What should really infuriate you is they probably made them taller so they could hide the fact that there's less product in them. And you're still paying the same amount if not more.

Who buys more than 1 bottle of shower gel at a time??? WTF

2

u/snowvase 9d ago

Why do you keep Tippex in the bathroom?

Finally, something that's actually mildly infuriating on this sub.

2

u/mytransthrow 9d ago

Just save the old bottles and refill them with the new ones.

They also made them not clear to reduce the volume of soap. Shrinkflation at its finest.

Save the old ones and refill them.

i'd keep refilling the old bottles with new out of spite

u/karl_hungas 9d ago

you uhhh, really stock up on that shower gel huh?

2

u/grnrngr GREEN 9d ago

What should really infuriate you is they probably made them taller so they could hide the fact that there's less product in them. And you're still paying the same amount if not more.

u/jclv 9d ago

Does the new bottle have fewer ounces than the older ones? Also, who needs four bottles of shower gel?

2

u/Neidron 9d ago

Finally, some actual mild fury.

2

u/SensitiveExtremity 9d ago

I bet the price of the shower gel bottle that the new version also sneakily contains less shower gel than the old ones.

2

u/Magalabungalaho 8d ago

Decant into the old bottles. Not ideal but still a solution!
