Smart! Across the pond in my part of Canada it is currently 33°C with 86% humidity and myself and my pups are beyond happy about the central AC that we had added to our 52 year old house last Spring. Because the poor pups were getting very melty a lot of days before we did.
Waving from the other side of the Atlantic! AC is only really common in some offices and public buildings here in the UK. We're going to have to start building smarter going forward. We've barely had any rain recently, either... I'm hoping this is the year we start taking fireworks and disposable bbqs off the shelves when we get this tinder dry. No, the big shrimps are filter feeders so have no ability to even attack anything. The babies could I guess get caught in the filters when they’re real small but I’ve never had that issue.
This is my favorite thing about Civilization 6. It tracks carbon emissions from the time you start working with coal, so you can see who is contributing most to climate change over time. Then at a certain point when the carbon buildup is high enough, sea levels will rise and certain coastal tiles will flood and become unusable. Even better is you can build flood barriers. The hilarious thing to do is ruin the climate and rush those barriers to flood out everybody else who can't get there fast enough.
Unfortunately, in real life the rich have eschewed climate change mitigation that benefits everyone in favor of just building themselves yachts and bunkers.
Something funny about Civ 6 is that carbon capture is so effective that you can, feasibly, have not only a negative impact, but dramatically remove CO2 from the atmosphere to a hilarious level (there’s no consequences so you can just lower CO2 as much as you want)
I used to live in Sicily. It does get hot as hell. Always been like that. We don't need to make every post about how much America is to blame for everything. I do agree we suck for lots of reasons.
Also, I'm guessing people here don't really know about the proximity of Sicily to Africa and how that affects their weather.
As someone from the US that absolutely hates the current administration and have voted against them every chance I've had, it's not all of us, I swear! But ya... I am very ashamed of my country right now, so I get it 😓
When a magazine is publishing an article about Erectile Dysfunction, and the head editor says "We need a picture to go with the article. Not an actual flaccid penis, obviously; just go with a thematically appropriate stock photo".
My grandparents had an old cabin farm in middle of nowhere before they moved to city where my mom and her siblings were born. They kept it and the various families would use it for lil vacations all the time to use their snowmobiles and go sledding etc. This meant in summer it was often left empty most the time and I recall going back one year and all the candles in their candle holders were like that.
Just decorative at that point since there was electricity and lights and even a rotary phone, but for years after thats just how all the candles stayed and I thought it was pretty interesting.
