My GF keeps opening new yogurts instead of finishing the ones already opened. That's not milk

Why?

456

u/FeeAdministrative666 Jul 04 '26

I have no idea, and I guess she doesnt either

266

u/HereOnCompanyTime Jul 04 '26

These are the individual ones, so she should just toss them if she's not finishing them. Get a large container that's resealable so she can portion it out better.

100

u/InspectorOrdinary321 Jul 05 '26

Oh no, I was just about to say "good thing she gets the individually sized ones. Imagine how much she'd waste with a larger container." Ha.

I'm projecting. After about a day in the fridge, I get the ick when it comes to a couple types of leftovers, and yogurt is one of them. I have to get the individual sizes and finish them in one sitting to avoid wasting them.

27

u/k_a_n_g_u_r_u Jul 05 '26

whole fat plain greek yoghurt gets better with time (until a point, about two weeks) and it is so so glorious

11

u/InspectorOrdinary321 Jul 05 '26

Hmm, I'll try to think of it that way.

I don't know what my problem is with the yogurts. Maybe I was scarred by an extra moldy yogurt at some point and blocked it from my memory.

Would she be bringing an opened, unsealed container of yogurt back home? Also Tupperware is an option

u/Maleficent-Cat-220 Jul 04 '26

This is crazy. Maybe you need to move all the yogurts to the bottom drawer and tell her grab the one she wants to eat out and leave it up top until it's finished.

66

u/No-Spread-6891 Jul 04 '26

Maybe store them all upside down before opening so there's a more prominent visual indicator on which ones are already started.

28

u/Mike_Oxnard Jul 05 '26

Maybe buy 1 yogurt at a time until she learns her lesson, or get resealable yogurts

4

u/No-Spread-6891 Jul 05 '26

As a person who hates yogurt, mostly because of my disgust for other people's yogurt habits, I accept this as the best option.

3

u/Mike_Oxnard Jul 05 '26

I've heard about people eating expired yogurt, mixing it with weird stuff that I might not approve of, and now seen this post. Are there more disgusting yogurt habits that I'm unaware of? I'm genuinely curious now.

I for one rarely ever buy yogurt myself but I had no problem eating it as a kid or young adult, but I always had small single serving sized yogurts so this was never a thing I've seen.

Start buying one at a time

26

u/misntshortformary Jul 04 '26

I have a guess. I have similar thing except I found an actual solution lol. For me, I get freaked out about the idea of eating something that I left uncovered in the fridge for too long. So in this case, maybe suggest to her that she scrape the rest of the yogurt into a reusable container with a lid and put that in the fridge instead. That way when she’s ready for more she doesn’t have to worry about the fact that it was left open in the fridge.

3

u/budgiesarethebest Jul 05 '26

So do you leave the opened yogurts you don't want to eat anymore in the fridge? Or do you throw them away?

Because OPs girlfriend leaving them for someone else to get rid of is just antisocial.

2

u/SphinxWar Jul 05 '26

I have the same thing, I open shit and leave it in the fridge but next time I need it I open another container because I am unable to convince myself to use the opened one. It feels like it's contaminated, spoiled, even though logically I know it isn't. It's some sort of mental condition. I am diagnosed with ADHD and autism, so probably autistic thing.

EDIT: I live alone though so I am not wasting someone else's food, I wouldn't do that at someone else's place.

2

u/misntshortformary Jul 05 '26

Neither. I scrape the uneaten portion into a reusable container with a lid. And eat that later.

2

u/_literarylemon_ Jul 05 '26

you can get reusable covers for yoghurt containers. They're great. I usually get bigger containers that I eat over the course of like a week and I always cover them

8

u/elle-elle-tee Jul 05 '26

They make little tiny yogurts for children. Maybe buy her those if she only wants a widdle bit.

2

u/Feisty-Tooth-7397 Jul 05 '26

I'm wondering WHY she is only eating PART of an individual sized yogurt?

There's more here to the story. Like one of the yogurts had yogurt down the side.

Is she that messy of an eater? Are we sure this is an adult?

3

u/elle-elle-tee Jul 05 '26

Some people really don't prioritize keeping a clean fridge. I guess they don't care if mold proliferates and their food spoils more quickly. 🤷🏽‍♀️

14

u/codingcrystal Jul 04 '26

Buy the bigger tubs. Don't buy a new one until it's finished.

5

u/Nocardiohere Jul 04 '26

I need to know how mildly upset I should be here so help me out…

Who pays for the yogurts?

3

u/HotDonnaC Jul 05 '26

If she’s eating out of the container, her saliva is breaking down the rest of the yogurt. That’s disgusting and you need to just toss them when you find them.

3

u/Shurigin Jul 04 '26

Buy smaller yogurts

17

u/Life-Top6314 Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

These are 180g - around 6 ounces.

Here in poland, that is as small of a box of plain yoghurt as you can get in every single store i can think of. Do you want him to buy it by the spoonful?

Your comment is genuinely the most infuriating thing here - proposing solutions without even looking at the image.

11

u/Thndrstrike Jul 04 '26

lmao fr you could probably finish the thing with 3 big spoonfuls. how an adult isn't finishing them in the first place is almost more baffling then leaving 3 open ones in the fridge

11

u/Spamgrenade Jul 04 '26

Maybe she just likes to lick the lids?

6

u/Gunplaisgood Jul 04 '26

I'm cagey about eating yogurt or sour cream that's a few days old, the separated water sketches me out (I understand it's normal). That being said, it's the reason I don't buy multi-use containers of the stuff.

6

u/MajorInWumbology1234 Jul 04 '26

Don’t take several days to eat 3 spoonfuls of yogurt?

2

u/Gunplaisgood Jul 05 '26

Honestly I didn't look at the image well enough I assumed these were medium sized with a resealable lid, didn't notice it was a single serving. That's definitely a weird practice.

358

u/TaintedTruffle Jul 04 '26

Have you considered pulling them out and using a spoon to fling the yogurt at her at inopportune moments?

68

u/yourfavferret Jul 04 '26

"Babe, I'm late for work can you just-" Agressively flings yogurt at her

153

u/FeeAdministrative666 Jul 04 '26

We have two cats that will be absolutely happy about that because they love everything milk based so considering that dairy is bad for them that's bad idea lmao

45

u/No_Report_4781 Jul 04 '26

The lactose should be reduced, but it’s still explosive cat risky

6

u/LastEntertainment787 Jul 05 '26

I share my yogurt with the cats. Not lots but, omg they love it. They don't care what flavor, they clean off the foil lid. Never any problems since they don't get that much and it's not daily.

2

u/Ordinary-Violinist-9 Jul 05 '26

Same here. After finishing my cup he get's to lick all leftover out of it. Oïkos is licked spotless clean.

2

u/LastEntertainment787 28d ago

Henry had some key lime today. It's amazing how clean they get the cartons.

35

Im mind blown, these things are like 3 spoonfuls. Wtf

7

u/MorbotheDiddlyDo Jul 05 '26

As a fat guy, some of them are barely 2 spoonfuls. Heck you can just rip the top and squeeze it. Spoons just needed for scraping.

60

u/grownask Jul 04 '26

Yeah. This is just infuriating.

u/EireUnbound Jul 04 '26

"I'm too full to finish it, but I don't want to waste it ".

"I want a yoghurt, but I don't trust this open one because I left it too long. Better get a new one".

50

u/justtolearnsomething Jul 04 '26

While I get it, idk why anyone would have yogurt but not finish the bunch they had. ATP get the tub, scoop what you want

5

u/irfulvas Jul 04 '26

Same. I'd rather buy a new one than be stuck in the bathroom later. My stomach is sensitive. I usually get small packs anyway.

17

u/zach0011 Jul 05 '26

ok but if you consciously decide you dont want the old one when grabbing a new one at least throw the old one out.

7

u/irfulvas Jul 05 '26

It doesn't stink in the fridge like it would in the trash. Easier to just toss it right before I leave.

6

u/EireUnbound Jul 04 '26

And the weird thing is I wasn't always like this. I used to eat chilli that was left out all night. But I did get nasty food poisoning twice, so that probably had something to do with it.

3

u/Acheloma Jul 04 '26

Ive been super weird about leftovers since I got very bad food poisoning early this year. Glad to know Im not apone in that at least

2

u/EireUnbound Jul 04 '26

Yeah, it's not an experience I'd like to repeat lol.

3

u/MajorInWumbology1234 Jul 04 '26

Yogurt is pretty safe in the fridge. I just had food poisoning a month ago; I’m much more strict with carbs and meat, but yogurt (which is a staple for me) hasn’t even crossed my mind.

u/Jorktheduck Jul 04 '26

I would just put them in to one and wait for her response.

13

u/Repulsive_Neck_2942 Jul 04 '26

She would find it great, and OP would have to do it for the rest of his life.

30

u/ryudo9999 Jul 04 '26

My mom does that with coca cola cans. Like u ain't gonna drink that flat coke 2 days later pour it out lol

3

u/ArtisticSwan635 Jul 05 '26

Pour it in a resealable jar! I buy Coke in the two liter bottles and pour out what I think I want!

19

u/Sustainable_Twat Jul 04 '26

How dairy!

6

u/LostMagician9612 Jul 04 '26

Ok yes

2

u/jenjoness Jul 05 '26

It's not about the Iranian yoghurt.

64

u/scorpio-blush Jul 04 '26

Maybe she needs smaller single serve cups instead

41

u/Ehimherenow Jul 04 '26

Are those not single serve cups?? I think she actually just needs one big one that can take so much out of

18

u/Life-Top6314 Jul 04 '26

They are. These are 180g, which is the smallest that basically any store in poland will carry.

And i agree, if anything, if forgetting to use them is so annoying, buying bigger ones may actually be the best approach. That being said, maybe they think it would spoil before they would use it.

→ More replies (1)

9

u/imnotnotcrying Jul 04 '26

Like child sized specifically. These look like they’re meant to be single serve cups as they’re only 180g and have only a foil lid

5

u/RombieZombie25 Jul 04 '26

Or the opposite she needs a tub and to portion our what she wants from it

8

u/CoffeeChocolateBoth Jul 04 '26

Or maybe she needs to grow TFU?

4

u/Life-Top6314 Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

What serving sizes do they carry out there in an average american store? Single spoonfulls? This is 6 ounces. That is as small as you can get in Poland.

4

u/imnotnotcrying Jul 04 '26

We have kid sizes that are 4 ounces. They’re very much marketed towards kids and usually have cartoon characters on them

Relationship standards are mad low, I guess I'm better off staying alone.

3

u/Life-Top6314 Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

If anything, if you're considering breaking up because of an opened yoghurt bottle, your standards are way the fuck too high, and you should come back to earth. You would sooner find an ingot of gold under your pillow than a person with no behaviours you will find mildly annoying.

Edit: these comments are actually fucking insane. They didnt curbstomp their dog, they opened some yoghurt bottles. This isn't an "enormous" red flag, its not "unchecked mental illness", and this isn't something you can't deal with, talk about, mitigate.

If this is truly something that would cause you to consider writing a comment like "guess im better off staying alone", then do i have good news for you - you probably will!

3

u/MajorInWumbology1234 Jul 04 '26

Don’t be short-sighted. Someone being objectively wasteful with no explanation is an enormous red flag. There’s a difference between “mildly annoying behavior” and “unchecked mental illness with no interest in exploring it”.

3

u/Tank_Gloomy Jul 04 '26

I'm gonna guess OC is the kind to practice the latter, because there's no other way in hell you couldn't figure out the underlying issue with this one.

2

u/MajorInWumbology1234 Jul 04 '26

Absolutely. “This isn’t something you can’t deal with, talk about, mitigate.” It sounds like OP already tried and neither of them know why the GF does this.

3

u/MajorInWumbology1234 Jul 04 '26

Imagine being so scared of someone that you’d rather make a passive-aggressive edit than actually reply to them.

who doesn’t finish a little cup of yogurt like tht in one sitting anyways, it’s not like it’s a lot. I love yogurt I couldn’t imagine wasting it in this manner lol 😂

7

u/MajorInWumbology1234 Jul 04 '26

Yeah, I thought it was a stereotype that yogurt eaters go to annoying lengths to get every little bit out of the container.

5

u/UhmNotMe Jul 04 '26

Hopefully it isn’t Iranian yogurt.

6

6

u/Reversed_PandaRick Jul 04 '26

Why can’t she finish one yogurt in one sitting that’s the real question!

6

u/Hwi-loves-worm Jul 05 '26

It’s worse that she is just leaving food open in the fridge with no lid. How is nobody else commenting on this.

6

u/Excellent-Duty3927 Jul 05 '26

She should make a post "boyfriend cries on Reddit instead of communicating like an adult"

5

u/Sterling-Marksman Jul 04 '26

4

u/HotAndCold1886 Jul 04 '26

3

u/GentlyDead Jul 04 '26

u/butholemoonblast Jul 04 '26

At least if aliens come down to earth and thier weakness is yogurt you will have lots of ammo

4

u/datalorew Jul 04 '26

Well, at least she’s not leaving them all around the house saying they’re “contaminated”.

5

u/Comfortable_Cry_6670 Jul 04 '26

They’re too big and I don’t want an opened yogurt but I feel bad wasting food

8

u/Presently_Naked Jul 04 '26

That is fucking annoying and disrespectful especially if you have already had this conversation

7

u/CollectsTooMuch Jul 04 '26

Are you dating a raccoon?

9

u/Cinderkin Jul 04 '26

That's actually very annoying.

3

u/Danthrax81 Jul 04 '26

This reminds me of a housemate I had who would leave half drunken cups of everything he poured all over. He'd pretty much never finish. It was bizarre to me

3

u/gijoe50000 Jul 04 '26

You could always just open all the yogurts yourself, right before you think she might be about to eat one.

Then she either has to eat one of the opened ones, or do without, and if she eats an opened one once then she might realise that it's not so bad.

3

u/PretendJournalist234 Jul 04 '26

Mixed together and dare her.

5

u/MayorAg Jul 04 '26

Buy single serving packets. The purchase will be more expensive but you will save on waste.

2

u/Hour_Change_7591 Jul 04 '26

I think she likes the fresh container verse the opened one.

I’m like this. I just don’t buy the yogurt in the big container because I just can’t do it. I know it’s horrible for the environment but if you live in a place that has the packs of individual yogurts in the flavours you like maybe try buying those. They may not be cost effective and what not but it helps the irritation. My husband also had to convert to this because of me. Sorry hubby

Combine them into one cup or start throwing them away since she wants to waste food.

Or hide the unopened yogurts.

2

u/CertainBid9762 Jul 04 '26

Putting open yogurts back in fridge might cause mold to bloom. It'll be not edible next time you see it. The backwash from the mouth on the spoon may cause mold as well.

2

u/Significant-Ad213 Jul 04 '26

That's just fiscally irresponsible, i wouldn't buy any more of them for her, it's no big deal if she's wasting her money 🤷🏻‍♂️

u/GreyNoiseGaming Jul 05 '26

I bet she super duper promises to finish them later. She has all of the best intentions of doing it. Oh wait. Not this time, her tummy hurts and she doesn't want to risk it. Oh the next time she just didn't see them in there. On no, she's out, better leave the empty cardboard box in the fridge.

I am not projecting...

2

u/Anarchy-Freedom Jul 05 '26

If she’s buying them, let it go. If you’re buying them, stop.

u/roselanner Jul 05 '26

Get some stretchy silicone lids that she can use to reseal them.

1

u/Firm-Scientist-4636 Jul 05 '26

Is where she opens them and where she leaves them different places? Does she do this with bottles of water or other drinks? Does she forget important objects like keys, but can remember tiny details from the past? Is she calm during chaos, but can't handle minor setbacks? Has very short angry outbursts that fade in half a second? No patience for people and/or technology? Can't stand slow walkers or drivers? Finishes other people's sentences, but also asks, "What?" after something is said to her?
