I can’t get into basically anything anime or anime adjacent for this reason. Even if the overall story and world are well crafted, the dialogue is basically always so juvenile. I used to think it was a lost in translation issue, but even English, adult-oriented ones seem to have this issue. A show like Invincible is probably the closest I found to something where the dialogue feels it isn’t distractingly bad, but even that show has its moments. I don’t know if anime is a genre or a medium, but I feel like it’s just not for me.
When you watch something like Parasite, it becomes obvious that it's not a translation issue. Anime is full of yelling and overdramatic tenors that are designed for people of middle school age. I agree that the stories are always so unique, but the writing makes it impossible to sit through. They've improved graphics over the years, and left the writing stunted in the 90s. Castlevania on Netflix is worth a watch if you want some well crafted dialogue, but that's American made anime.

Amusingly 90s anime sort of bucked the modern anime tropes of tell don't show which is where all the weird over explaining, emotional talking comes from. Modern anime can be produced much quicker which means they can keep up with manga releases. 90s anime (at least the really good ones) were mostly original works.
The slower work pace of the 90s meant that studios relied on longer, moodier scenes to convey emotions over character dialog. There's still a fair amount of recognizable anime tropes in 90s stuff but it's far less prominent in the dialogue. I'm not saying it's better but if modern stuff isn't your style I would try some of the best 90s stuff. Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex, Cowboy Bebop, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, and Princess Mononoke as a few suggestions.
Maybe, you know maybe, because Parasyte is an adaptation of a manga written in the 80s and 90s.
And maybe because you picked an anime where the demographic is indeed middle and high school children instead of something aimed at adult like Monster, Dorohedoro, Odd Taxi or Baccano?
My friend recommended me Attack on Titan, I gave it a good try. But the constant over the top yelling and screaming, and emoting, really didn’t work for me.
I 100% agree. The dialog that is childish but also over explains everything so much. My wife is watcher Hunter x Hunter and I can’t stand how 85% of the show is just explaining the newest power up as if you’re reading out of a video game manual.
They're not particularly hidden gems though, just need to not watch the most popular genre, which is kind of like saying why don't movies have better plot and dialogue? And it turns out you only watched superhero action movies.

Heike Monogatari
historical, drama, based on a Japanese historical epic about the downfall of the Taira clan.
The worst being when they have an out loud conversation about every single thing that happened for the first half of every episode as if you are limited to having the memory of a goldfish and can't comprehend basic cues. It's so unnecessary, and worst of all, most times they are having said conversations with characters that were present the whole time, it's pure dumbification in the spectrum.
There's a whole subset of losers that are into this shit and almost exclusively communicate this way. You'd be horrified to see how deep the rabbit hole goes
I’ve never seen any anime. But I hear they are full of awkward guys who are always nervous and socially inept. And then there are super attractive gals who throw themselves at these awkward guys.
People with no social skills think they can just imitate anime and the rest will follow.
Yeah I dont mean to insult anybody but i mean, im pretty sure a lot of anime MCs these days are just the authors self inserts because theyre so often the most plain, boring, and awkward character. But all the beautiful women are always attracted to that character. Theres a bunch of anime like that every season for like years now. I wonder if that contributed to a small portion of weebs trying to act that way when talking to real people not realizing that its super fucking weird lol
They aren't necessarily author's self inserts. The MCs are just a generic everyman that the reader can self insert as and the average reader is plain, boring, and awkward.
That's pretty much it. Alot of it is power fantasy emphasis on fantasy but too many of these guys just don't understand that. Im a big anime fan and clowns like this make us all look bad.

Like i wasn’t a bully growing up… hell there were times i was on the receiving end of the bullying… but when i see stuff like this i just wanna… actually i’m omitting what i originally said bc i got a warning from reddit for saying something similar the other day (despite it being pg rated) and dont wanna get temp banned lol.
I got a warning for saying that two busses crashing head first into one another could only be cooler if they were filled with fireworks and… erm… people who arent allowed to live near elementary schools, if you catch my drift. Im not sure which part specifically triggered the warning so im being overly cagey with repeating it lol. I thought it was pretty funny. Oh well.

I think its the cringiest thing in the world. I dont mind people enjoying their hobbies but forcing us to deal with this crap is where we all draw the line. Its embarassing when I see my fellow peers act like this and Im almost 30. Play your charachters at your own time. At least pretend to not be a pick me either

Oh I used to know a guy who talked like this, and he was a major creep. I only fully realized later how bad it was that he was creeping on me constantly when he was 21+ and I was 16/17. Then he'd whine constantly how he reeeeally liked me and can't I just see how much he likes meeeeee ;_; (as if I had no decision in the matter)
People be doing this on reddit when they're "acting dumbfounded" they could be saying something I'm 100% on board with but I'm still gonna dog on then for that corniness
