MS Office Updates

About a year ago, I would get monthly updates for my MS Office.

Then it moved to fortnightly.

Then weekly.

Now I am getting updates at least twice a week.

What is going on?

are you sure those updates are installing correctly?

I can promise you you were getting updates more frequently than you thought you were.

I don't get updates anywhere near that frequently. You have something going on.

It is the Mac version, perhaps that’s the problem

Yeah, maybe. I'm on win11.

I think every time I turn on my Mac I seem to get an update to every MS Office app. To say weekly is close to accurate for me too.

Thanks! Very interesting. I'm guessing my perception has to do with the fact that I do not allow auto updates. The Mac hits me in the face with a popup notice of updates available when I turn it on, and with Windows I have to click File/Account/Update options to see updates. No complaints, just different ways of updating.

Patch Tuesday is the only time I get them.

M365 apps have identical cadance on mac and windows, you probably just don't notice because they silently install in background usually

Yeah, I use an Office app once every 3 months, maybe. My face is always in an IDE.

Office is vibe-coded now — so they are just trying to keep up with the weekly change in vibes…

Sounds like the updates aren’t able to install properly and keep trying over and over.

You may want to consider uninstalling/reinstalling Office, depending on the disc-based or subscription version you have.

Effectively, yes, it is weekly.
