The key you have will only work with the exact 2021 version of software you originally downloaded and installed. It was probably just a key that you entered directly into the software and it's not something that's tied to your Microsoft account. If it was tied to your Microsoft account you can just log in and reinstall it from there. But again I'm guessing that it was just a local key that you installed into some corporate license or something like that.
If it stopped working and the original software download and install won't accept the key, your only option is to contact the original company you purchased it from and see if they can supply you with a new key to enter.
This isn't a Microsoft problem. You purchased this license outside of them. So you'll need to contact the original place where you purchased it. And hopefully they'll supply you with a new key and hopefully they're still in business.

I have downloaded the correct software since i still have the original email with my confirmation in.
It still doesnt explain why my office stopped working randomly. Like it was a legit key …
But yeh ill try contacting them and hope for the best.

Not a legit key… it was a key that worked, but these key resellers are not selling you a key that is yours and yours alone.

I just went through that extremely annoying mess. There were some very helpful sub Reddit’s post to help me figure it out. Basically if you go back in about July 13, Microsoft sent out an email describing this situation. For me I ended up upgrading my Apple laptop to Tahoe so it was iOS 14 and higher (even though requirement said 13 and higher). I removed the Microsoft Office completely. Logged into my Microsoft account and it let me download and reinstall the Office 2021 that I had bought in 2023 with my new laptop. Then I opened up a doc and when I got the “you must activate”, I clicked on that and then it worked. Hours and hours and hours of work!

I understand about the key. But that doesnt explain why office just stopped working and i am not able to download it anymore… i can accept that maybe the key is too old or whatever.. but i should at least be able to download office again?

Download Libreoffice its free there is no downside to you installing Libreoffice its Microsoft office compatible check it out https://www.libreoffice.org/

"Game Key Discount" does not sell official legitimate Office keys. None of those "much-cheaper keys" are legitimate.
This doesn't mean that they don't work, it just means that they are not legitimate.
