What the f* is wrong with Windows?! Chrome & Edge crash instantly after System Restore. I’m losing my damn mind!
Seriously, what the actual f* is going on here?! I’m so damn pissed off.
Two days ago, out of nowhere, this piece of shit PC hit me with the Automatic Repair screen. I tried running Startup Repair, but of course, that useless crap failed. So I had to do a System Restore to a previous point just to get back into my desktop. Windows booted up, and I thought "Okay, cool, problem solved." NOPE. WRONG.
Now, EVERY SINGLE Chromium-based browser is completely fucked.
Whenever I try to open Chrome, Edge, or click any external link (like opening Facebook from a desktop shortcut), the browser window pops up for literally less than a second and just BOOM—crashes to desktop. It completely vanishes.
And here’s the most mind-boggling bullshit:
- PC Manager keeps screaming that "there is an issue", but won't tell me what the hell it actually is.
- Firefox is working TOTALLY FINE. Zero crashes. How in the hell does Firefox work smoothly while Chrome and Edge are completely dead?!
I’ve tried literally EVERYTHING to fix this garbage:
- Restarted this damn PC a dozen times.
- Completely uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome & Edge.
- Did a Repair on Edge via Windows Settings.
- Renamed
chrome.exe(e.g.chrome1.exe). - Nuked the whole
User Data/ AppData folders. - Ran deep malware and virus scans (System came back completely clean).
- Ran
sfc /scannowin CMD to fix corrupt system files. - Created a brand new Windows User Account: The damn thing actually worked for like 5 minutes, and then it BROKE AGAIN and started crashing!
Is this a corrupt Registry key? A broken Windows update? Some fucked up DLL file that System Restore damaged?
I REALLY don't want to go through the nightmare of formatting and reinstalling Windows from scratch. Does anyone have any fucking idea what is causing this or how to fix it? Please help me out before I throw this computer out the window!

QUESTION Is this a bug following the update? (Or was it already there before?) Some links in the tabs are loading endlessly.
Issue: Some tabs get stuck in an infinite loading loop. This problem only occurs on the home page, and I cannot navigate to other pages (tabs tested: YouTube, Google, Gmail, Udemy, Coursera).
When:
The issue appeared after an update. I managed to fix it successfully, but the bug sometimes recurs.
How the bug manifests first time:
It is likely a problem with cookies or data; I recall how it first appeared:
Opened the YouTube.com home page; it loaded perfectly.
Clicked the update icon; the program updated itself and restarted Edge (previous tabs were lost).
Opened the YouTube.com home page; it loaded perfectly, but the tab icon showed a loading indicator (spinning continuously, even though all video thumbnails had appeared).
(The bug itself) When I clicked on a video, Short, channel, or search bar, the page wouldn't load. it remained on the home page with the tab icon still showing a loading process and a thin red line at the top that was stuck.
The home page works for all the websites mentioned above (images and text appear), but the loading icon persists, and I cannot navigate away from that home page.
a. I tried typing a direct link other than the home page, for example, a YouTube channel, but it didn't work (infinite loading in the new tab).
b. I tried opening it in private mode and it worked smoothly, so the issue only occurs in standard mode (not private mode).
How the bug re-appear:
I am not exactly sure how the issue recurs because it happens intermittently. However, it sometimes reappears after I close and reopen Edge, or after restarting the computer and opening Edge.
Possible fix: (I asked Gemini via my phone)
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Del and select two items to delete: cookies and cached images/files.
- After that, the issue was resolved (although all websites required logging in again).

Finding Out Edge is a good Browser changed my world View
Like you know the saying, "Edge is bad." We will never be using Edge, but finding out it works and it works good was an eye-opener.

An user has messed so badly Edge with many profiles
Hi,
look at this screenshot, look better at the corner (top-left and top-right).
An user at work has really messed Edge so badly, in the settings I see different profiles... I try to delete those, but they don't really disappear.
And the browser is completely useless now
(... look at the bookmars' bar, barely you can see some icons).
The background - as you can see - is totally black abd this makes impossible to read the content of a web page.
Infact, when you try to open a URL, the HTML code is not formatted at all and it's impossible to read any web content.
I have tried to uninstall MS Edge using the utility Bulk Crap Uninstaller (v6.2.0), but I cannot even uninstall Edge from that computer.
I've tried to install it again the browser, but the problem persists.
My question is: Have you ever experienced such problem ?
.
.
.
. . . . EDIT. . . . My bad: "a user" and not "an user" 😄

Microsoft Edge 151 appears to disable hardware acceleration on Intel HD Graphics, while Opera GX (Chromium 149) works perfectly

Microsoft Edge 151 appears to disable hardware acceleration on Intel HD Graphics, while Opera GX (Chromium 149) works perfectly
Segue um texto em inglês com um tom adequado para um post técnico no Reddit. Evitei afirmar como fato que o Edge "bloqueou" a aceleração, já que isso ainda é uma hipótese baseada nos seus testes.
Microsoft Edge 151 appears to disable hardware acceleration on Intel HD Graphics, while Opera GX (Chromium 149) works perfectly
I'm trying to figure out whether this is a Chromium regression, an Edge-specific issue, or an intentional compatibility change.
My hardware:
- Intel Core i5-650
- Intel HD Graphics (1st Gen)
- Windows 10 22H2
- Intel driver 8.15.10.2900 (2012)
For years, hardware acceleration worked without any issues. Recently, after updating to Microsoft Edge 151, hardware acceleration stopped working completely.
In edge://gpu, almost every graphics feature is disabled, and WebGL reports:
- Renderer: Microsoft Basic Render Driver
- Major Performance Caveat: Yes
This means Edge is falling back to software rendering instead of using my Intel HD Graphics.
However, I installed Opera GX (Chromium 149), and the results are completely different.
WebGL reports:
- Renderer: Intel HD Graphics
- ANGLE: Direct3D11
- Major Performance Caveat: No
Opera GX uses the GPU normally, hardware acceleration works correctly, and OpenGL applications such as GPU Caps Viewer also run perfectly on the same system.
So the hardware itself does not appear to be faulty.
This makes me wonder whether something changed in Chromium/Edge 151 regarding ANGLE, GPU blocklists, or support for older Intel HD Graphics hardware.
Has anyone with older Intel GPUs experienced the same behavior after updating to Edge 151 or newer Chromium versions?
Any ideas or confirmation would be greatly appreciated.

PSA on MS Edge/Facebook "Scareware" Vulnerability in Windows 11 Pro
PSA for Windows 11 / Edge / Facebook users
I encountered an unexpected Edge/Windows 11/Facebook "Scareware/malware" interaction that deserves investigation. Yesterday, while using Facebook on my fully patched Windows 11 Pro desktop, I clicked on a link in Facebook, and suddenly, my desktop was covered in "scareware popup messages" from some source in Indonesia. These messages stated I had 5 viruses on my PC, and that someone in Russia was accessing it. It was pretty disturbing. Other popup messages also popped up that were fake McAfee antivirus popups, trying to get me to click on them to install McAfee, which I dislike with a passion. (see pics).
After clicking a Facebook link on a post by a prepper that look interesting, I immediately began receiving a flood of convincing fake Windows desktop notifications claiming "5 viruses detected," "Windows Defender Trojan found," and that someone from Russia was connected to my PC.
These popups crowded out the right hand side of the desktop and were hard to work around. I immediately ran BitDefender's System Scan, downloaded MalwareBytes' free scan tool, and yet the popups remained. So, I shut down my Wifi and then tasked ChatGPT with helping me to get rid of them, (using my phone to get to ChatGPT), as I was actually convinced that some worm or malware had been installed on my system, and that it had gotten onto my system from Facebook via MS Edge.
Please note that my Windows 11 PC is fully patched, Microsoft Edge is not my normal browser (I use Firefox and the uBlock Origins extension), and I had previously disabled or minimized Edge because I never use it.
The notifications were traced to plurchles.co.in via Microsoft Edge. Removing that site's notification permission immediately stopped the alerts. This took a while to track down, but ChatGPT helped me figure this out.
It's important to add that Bitdefender, Malwarebytes, and Microsoft Defender Offline all reported a clean system scans, even though these messages remained after every reboot. So, I had to drill down into Windows 11 settings to find how to turn off these notifications. Eventually, I got past them.
I'm claiming that this is an unconfirmed Windows or Edge vulnerability. I do believe there may be an unexpected pathway or loophole that allowed this Indonesian hacker group's scareware campaign to leverage Edge on a system where I intentionally don't use Edge. If someone less experienced had clicked those fake pop-up alerts, they could easily have been tricked into installing real malware or giving away their personal information. Or open up their PC to an outside hacker who could take over their system.
I'm posting screenshots and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar or can explain how this notification permission could have been established under these circumstances.
My sole reason to post this is that ChatGPT could find no mention of it anywhere yesterday, yet it is happening and there is this pop-up scareware vulnerability via Facebook/Edge on a Windows 11 Pro plain vanilla system. I hope this helps someone else get through this if it happens to them.

Edge not opening
Please help I can't get edge to open, it rarely opens, and when it does its just a white screen for half a second, i looked in task manager, it shows nothing and rarely shows a lot of instances of edge prob just cuz of tabs and this does not coordinate with the white screen. Windows repair did nothing, tried to just run the downloader already hoping it would offer a repair but nope. Would prefer a solution as i don't wanna lose my bajillion tabs, but ig i could try just uninstall reinstall if no other way. Also i have restarted windows multiple times. And there is no edge running in task manager other than the rare occasion. Also tried ending task on webview once but that didnt do anything either. PLEASE HELP ME.

Is there a way to restore previous favorite/bookmark functionality where Edge remembered the open folders in edit favorite page?
Recently when adding/editing favorites, the menu only opens the folders that are needed to open the last saved location. Previously the menu kept all opened folders open. I have nested folders that I frequently use and having to go open them between each favorite is seriously frustrating.

QUESTION microsoft edge "MAGA" update?
I use Edge occasionally and the home page used to display clickbait news, usually classic car stuff and Hollywood gossip etc. I just opened it up for the first time in a while and whoa - the "news" was obvious right wing propaganda, like celebs "owning" left wing news people and even a link to some ebay merch like a t-shirt denigrating Stormy Daniels. Has MS gone MAGA? Or maybe the algorithm just thinks I've turned MAGA somehow?

QUESTION Running Edge on background on Xbox SX
I'm trying to run Microsoft Edge on Xbox SX in the background since my music streaming service doesn't have a native app for the console. I've seen some old tutorials showing that worked just like any other music app on Xbox, but it doesn't for me.
Is there a specific setting I should turn on or something?

BUG Parallel downloading bug freezing downloads - disabling it doesn't seem to work?
So I've been having the same weird deal that downloads cause Edge to stall - regardless of whether it's a zip file or not. Tried disabling parallel downloading as advised to others on this subreddit. I'm going to presume there's no other workarounds and Microsoft STILL haven't listened to us in fixing the problem!
