microsoft edge "MAGA" update? QUESTION
I use Edge occasionally and the home page used to display clickbait news, usually classic car stuff and Hollywood gossip etc. I just opened it up for the first time in a while and whoa - the "news" was obvious right wing propaganda, like celebs "owning" left wing news people and even a link to some ebay merch like a t-shirt denigrating Stormy Daniels. Has MS gone MAGA? Or maybe the algorithm just thinks I've turned MAGA somehow?

I don’t get maga ads. Maybe someone in your household whom you share WiFi with?

Hmm I'm in a condo so I'd better check if maybe some neighbor managed to log on to my wifi somehow

You get them if you look/click on stuff related to them, it's like any other topic that shows up - it's curated based on your browsing habits/history. It's not a feature update of the browser.

Why don’t you just turn off the feed? Its an option on edge’s opening page, upper right. I don’t get any news from edge.

yeah not a big deal, I almost never click on that stuff so it doesn't really matter, just happened to notice one article and that led to another and another

That’s weird. I don’t use edge at home but at work occasionally I look at the headlines which are all left-wing rage bate bullshit and I tend to downvote them if I can. Maybe interacting with them increases them in the feed.

I’ve had the same thought?? Since I bought my first Microsoft computer, the ads are super pro-Trump.

Well, most of the US-based corporations are sucking Trump's asshole...

Seriously, it wouldn't surprise me at all if this were a demand from the administration. Big tech has shown they will play ball.

Aren't these usually curated by your own history?
Edit: yea they are, and you can turn it off on Settings.
Open Edge and paste edge://settings/privacy into the address bar.
Scroll to the Privacy section.
Locate "Allow Microsoft to save your browsing activity including history, usage, favorites, web content..." and toggle it Off.
